Building things at Melwood

I'd haved turned it into a massive megabowl.

 

Maybe the biggest in all of Europe.

There are enough pitches in West Derby, Old Barnfield now Shankly playing fields and Walkers right next to it. As the locals don’t use any facilities at Melwood anyway they are losing nothing. I understand school and traffic concerns but that is the councils area to address. The same Council who accommodated Everton in their new training facility after Everton did almost exactly what we want to do.

As for the facilities at Melwood, of course they are top class unlike Bellfield, but the Council spent 4m of tax payers money to improve Finch Farm after buying it and renting it back to Everton. 

The club may do something, they transformed Anfield Youth Centre after Vernon Sangster went. There use to be a youth club on Deysbrook? Maybe they could build a big new one. Hearts and minds.

Who's funding it? I love the hypothetical idea of providing sports, leisure and community use but in an austere economic environment, who's funding it? Not just capital but running costs? The country is incredibly short of decent housing stock, this seems as good a proposal as any to provide more in an area that needs it. 

 

Plus, planning was granted two years ago. This is some young kid out to gain kudos through hyperbole.

I could kick a ball 3 times and land it on the Shankly Playing Fields from my house. I have never seen a soul on there. 

 

They could have just done something better. I hate the idea of it being new houses. Its an amazing complex.

Im never up early enough on a saturday / sunday to see. I am thinking of having one last go with a local side for next year. Decent player me and still think I've got one more year in me. I'm thinking Everton? 

 

But, to the point, kids should play out more. Actually, they shouldn't because there are too many beaners around these days....
