Bayern Munich (A) Champions League 13/3/19

Fuck all this 'concentrate on the league' talk. These aren't as good as they were. We are far better. Go at them, get that away goal then let them shit themselves for the rest of the game. Its an easier tournament to win after Real Madrid, PSG, Dortmund and Roma going out. Fucking go for it Reds.

If we get through this against Bayern then I think we have a really fucking good chance of winning it, arguably favourites alongside City.

I'm too scared to even consider this game. I really feel if we get knocked out it will fuck up any confidence we have for the league challenge. Just win redmen.

I will be watching this through drunken eyes. Extreme, upside down drunk.

We're fuckin shite.

Due to the league going as it has the European Cup hasn't generated the same excitement as it usually does so far.

Get through this and that will change, but it is a big ask - a really big ask.

Want to see us win this and league but can't help but worry that our lack of depth will be exposed again if we do go deep again - look at us last season we fell over the 4th place line in league and had just about 3 fit midfielders for the run in as the games mounted up....we could barely win a game in between the latter stages European Cup games.

We were the second best team in Europe last season.

The first best have been knocked out, and we've actually strengthened since then.

It's our year.

Even BT don't pick our captain...

They have done a clever graphic of our players dressed up in traditional Bavarian gear with bevvies, instruments etc but no sign of Henderson in the 10 players.

I think we took our foot off the pedal in the league because we were well placed to finish in the top four, and it will be interesting to see what happens if we do keep progressing and we treat both equally. We can cover or rest midfielders better but it's obviously not so easy with the full-backs and the front three.

    • Jurgen Klopp has given hope to the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Adam Lallana as the club braces itself for a heavy schedule of games in the next month.

With the return of the Champions League as well as the League Cup, squad rotation will be required so that players stay fresh.

Speaking ahead of the fixture against Arsenal on Saturday evening, Klopp said those on the periphery will get their chance.

Liverpool Echo reported Klopp as saying:

“Every year is the same and always in the same moment at the beginning of the season.

“You want to have that, and if you don't have it then you have injuries from pre-season and that's the last thing you want.

“ Still, I would say in this moment, Shaq didn't play enough, he is in a really good shape.

“Adam didn't play enough, in a really good shape. Dejan didn't play enough, in a really good shape.

“These are completely normal things. Some others might also say that they don't play enough.

“But we have to prepare for a season.

“At the start of the season without intensity, you try to get rhythm, you try to get stability at the beginning. It's not a moment where you change too many things.

“Then it will happen automatically and in the next (few) weeks you have to (change things) and everything will be fine then.

Klopp said he was happy to give his stars a couple of days off during the week after a busier than normal workload to start the season which has included the Community Shield and the Super Cup.

“ I was really happy for the boys to give them the two days off.

“We didn't plan it, but it's easier when you win so we didn't tell them beforehand.

“Somebody needs to remind me that it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a day off!

“I had Sunday off, Monday I was working. Sunday I watched football, the Chelsea v Leicester game. That was nice.”

Klopp is not putting too much emphasis on a clash against a top six opponent as he rightly says that every game is important if you want to have ultimate success come the end of the season.

“I had a couple of years ago a really good record in the mini-league then didn't pick up enough points in the other games.

“Then last year the record was not bad but was obviously for people not good enough because we drew a lot.

“ We have to get as many points as possible and we cannot decide where we get them.

“We're Liverpool and every week we have to try to win, and that's what we will do.

“I don't think this result on Saturday will be the decisive result of the season.”

    • Considering they were playing in Warsaw I'd assumed it was something more broadly anti-Catholic.  Pathetic really.
    • I think it's pretty clear they've issued that because as long as we're still actually under contract with New Balance it would be in extremely poor taste to issue a statement saying we're planning to switch a year from now.   Sort of colours the relationship with New Balance, and we still have a whole year to go (minimum) in that relationship. I expect it's sorted behind closed doors, but won't be made public until some respectable time, probably in the spring some time when the NB deal is about to expire.
    • Also, I don't know if there are many finer allegories for the human condition than Seamus Coleman's seemingly eternal struggle to keep his tongue in his mouth.  Despite the constant effort he's always destined to fail, poor lad.
