Pretty standard to get charged for speaking to a ref like that, isn’t it?

Especially when he hadn’t long been charged over the Everton pitch invasion.

Struggling to see the outrage here.

He has been charged for his comments in interview after game - not for speaking to the ref.

Indeed.

Also, I love the bloke but he deserves a bit of a talking to fir bitching about the officials after they gave us a dodgy goal and an undeserved point.

I thought it was the most predictable FA charge going.

If it was another manager, having just been gifted a goal for such a terrible decision, we’d rightly be calling them a tit.

Just because we benefitted from the shitness of the officials doesn't negate their shitness.

Just irritates me that refs don't have to explain/answer in public for their actions yet managers are expected to be able to have to express their opinions in the heat of the moment straight after a game within restrictive rules put down, and then will get fucked by the FA if they decide they have broken these rules when all they have done is be critical of the incompetence that they have to just put up with week in week out that affects games.

You're conflating a bad decision from the assistant with Kevin Friend's performance.
