He was. It was essential to have one of Gattuso and Ambrosini in their line-up, as they were were ball winners, but the footballers were Kaka, Seedorf and Pirlo in that midfield. Neither Gattuso nor Ambrosini was a very good footballer.

Ambrosini was basically the Milan equivalent of Hendo which can be seen as a compliment or an insult depending on how you look at it.
