Well in on the Winston Churchill anecdote but John Barnes was reacting to Neeson's interview today on Good Morning America, not the one he gave to the Independent 2 weeks ago as part of the film junket. If Liam had said in that first interview that he was wrong about thinking of revenge AND about wanting to target black people then there  really could have been a discussion about the issues. He didn't though and now it just comes across as damage control rather than addressing the issues raised.

Also, the first thing he asked his friend was about the ethnicity of her attacker.  Like his mind was already predisposed towards thinking this was a racial issue.  He could have asked how old she thought he was, how tall etc.  But he went straight for race.

The first thing he asked was did you know who it was. Then he asked about colour.

That was his point.

Really?  Not his finest hour, then.  As Section says, it's just weird.

He's admitting he was racist by showing how he was racist. Not sure there is anything weird there.

'80's bloke in admitting he used to be racist like lots of other people were' shocka.

If he wanted to kill a black fella why did he not just pick one and do it. White guy claims self defense after being jumped by black thug. he'd probably get off with it now never mind the 80's.

I think its bollocks. The rape probably isn't but The Equalizer Leeson bit is.

Leeson in the nick.

Regardless of the race debate, does nobody just think it's nuts that your reaction to something bad happening is to want to go out and stab a stranger? What am I missing here where that's not absolutely psychotic?

Yea its odd. An innocent man coukd have been hurt just because of his colour. Nasty if you ask me.

If he found out exactly who it was and then went after and hurt that guy, then I'd say fair play.

It's not the best reaction but it is a common reaction (wanting to hurt someone). The latter part of wanting to kill someone is probably an expression of being "uncontrollable". If he wanted to inflict murder, he'd have probably done it within the impulsive period. The sheer fact he'd gone out looking for a fight/confrontation signals doubt in the murder category and more aligned towards the wanting to release aggression.

Add a stressful lifestyle, an emotive trigger and a sense of injustice and you'll often get a similar response.

The first thing he asked was whether she recognised her attacker, we also don't know what else he asked.
