Shall I send him an invite to a torrent site and sort him a Spotify subscription?

You can if you like. I reckon he might not take you up on it though because:

1. Loads of it won’t be available digitally (rarities, specials, freebies, stuff there’s no demand for).

2. As an entire collection it’s almost priceless.

3. As with all vinyl collectors, it’s a deeply personal thing tied up with great memories of his entire life.

But you knew that, didn’t you? You’re just pissing on chips.

Of course. It sounds amazing. Well, the live parties and stuff sound great. A fucking house for music and parties, that’s amazing.

I hope he has has a good sprinkler system.

I had Spotify for a few weeks & 60% of the stuff I was looking for wasn't on there, it's fucking shite if you're into anything remotely niche.

Used to have about six CD’s in the car. Now I use Spotify and utilise the extra space in the glove compartment for multi-packs of Extra Strong Mints, a phone charger and a rape kit.

That’s a bit far mate. I know it’s pretty open on here, and people are allowed to joke about horrible shit, but Extra Strong Mints? Get some polos. Much better texture.

Yeah. My mind boggles when I think of what I used to spend. £150 a month was not unusual. I used to get freebies and discount from Fat City Records in Manchester because I was such a good customer. Now I pay fifteen quid for Apple Music and the whole family gets it for that.

Yeah, I'm the same on Google play. It's a much better system for me as a lot of what I used to buy I'd only listen to half a dozen times and if it didn't grab me by then, would just get put away. What I will say is I'm less inclined to listen to new music since I've been streaming, but I do go back a lot more. Maybe that's my age and maybe because I think most of the new music is shite.

Do you still find that now mook? When streaming 1st started I thought it was like that. It seems to me it has nearly everything now, they've the smallest of labels signed up.

CD on here set me up with a free account & they clocked it after a couple of months & chucked me off.

It was costing me money anyway because I was listening to stuff on there & then buying the CD. I don't see myself ever moving away from physical product to be honest.

I've not bought anything for years I couldn't have got on a streaming service, but as I mentioned in the post to Paul, that could be my age. I do still buy the odd CD, sometimes to keep collections of certain artists, sometimes to support a good young artist or whatever, but I must buy less than 10 a year now (and they never get unwrapped!) whereas I could easily do that in a month in years gone by.

I've over 500 CD's, over 200 cassettes, about 40 LP's and about 5 hard drives full of stuff. Mainly use Spotify these days but the odd time I crank up the CD player when the missus is out. I seldom buy CDs anymore unless it's for a band I'm a big fan of. I buy special edition LP's and don't play them. I just keep them as an investment or I'll pass to the kids when I shuffle off this earth.

I just like what I like. Sure, I could vary it and listen to different music every day, but I wouldn’t enjoy it as much. Whereas, my wife listens to loads of different stuff. Each to their own. It’s not a competition.

Mate, I listen to about 6. If I find a new song I like, I’m hyped.
