Delph and Costa would be good signings for them. Two players who, although can't play at the elite level, will surely propel them into the top 6

I would imagine if they got Delph it would suggest Gueye might be off to a good team.

Remember being gutted about this falling through.

Surprisingly he's still in China.

It's really not too surprising. He moved there for money and he's unlikely to get paid as much anywhere else.

Any footballer that moves to China or the MLS in their prime is a bullet dodged.

It's the type of shit Harry Kewell should have pulled.

I wanted Harry Kewell badly. At least until he'd been here a couple of months. What a waste of huge talent.

Id have thought after a couple years he would have accrued enough to satisfy his need for money, had enough of playing in China etc.

At 29 years old, having previously played in Russia, I would have thought a Brazilian player that was attracting big interest in Europe would have furthered his career by now.

Clearly not.

Aston Villa, Brighton, Bournemouth and Wolves have all been linked with moves for Liverpool winger Harry Wilson, 22

All will be revealed as Red Nick might say, but it would be silly to move this lad on if we don’t end up bringing somebody else in instead.

He needs regular playing time. Having the odd minutes here and there struggling to even get into the rhythm of plays would help neither us or him.

Fair point, but the same could be said about somebody like Pepe even at £80m, which might explain Klopp being happy enough not to spend big there as few enough in world football would break into our front three. I’d only have Neymar cleaning their boots if we somehow bought him.

A serious injury changes that whole dynamic, of course, but he probably feels he’d find a way around it with the players he has, even if it meant a change in formation.

At the beginning of last season we gave Shaqiri and Studge some minutes as required. Having Pepe to fill that role would be an upgrade and give us a significant opportunity to rotate later in the season when needed. And all of the front 3 have had extended seasons to date.

And we may not be as lucky with injuries next season.

I would. He's declining, injury prone and a cunt. If they slap their patented huge wages on the table to blow him away in the meeting, even better.

Nailed on he scores in the Derby at Goodison if he signs.

Injuries are increasingly not my concern - it's fatigue.

The lads turned up for pre-season on Saturday. Salah's season finished that day, Firmino's the day after and Mané's is still going. They are not going to be remotely ready for the start of the season - a season where we need to hit the ground running more than we ever have done before, because the margin for error has never been so low. We cannot afford to blunder around bringing those three off the bench late into games because we're struggling.

We have one of our best starting elevens in history, one of our greatest managers of all time and yet I feel we could do so much better with even one more forward.
