no more nuts than any other player in that list.

He doesn't merit conversation with Neymar and Mbappe. Dembele yes.

how do you mean? Neymar is no great shakes. Mbappe when he was bought for a fee of about 25% more than coutinho was about 12 years old. Dembele? Coutinho did more with his bad back playing for us than Dembele has achieved in his career. Coutinho was the main player, playing for a top side in the world's richest league. his fee makes perfect sense in the context of those going on around him. saying anything else is some weird bitter revisionism. He may not have achieved what was expected at Barca, but neither has Dembele. Neymar has failed at PSG.

That's how he works. He is very good at it.

It's how he likes to do things. We are in July now and he normally gets everything done early July so new players have a chance pre-season to acclimatise to his tactics. With the thinning out we have done so far, and I'm sure one or two more will be moving on, I'm sure we'll be bringing in more than the young Dutch lad we have so far purchased.

Van Dijk- Allegations of tapping up put this one on the backburner to the point many supporters were pissed off the club didn't move on to another target. A bit of a stand-off followed until an increased fee pushed it through swiftly once the January window opened.

Fabinho- Who was this guy? Next minute, his thread is 8 pages long, full of posts wondering where the fuck this one came from. It was the most 'out of the blue' signing since Meireles in recent times.

Alisson- Karius was still being talked up by Klopp, then Danny Ward was apparently the #1 for about a minute before being sold. There were whispers about the big Brazilian coming in, but the massive fee being suggested and the fact he'd shipped 7 in a week to the reds left many unconvinced.

Has there been a more significant trio of players signed to the club within a 12-month period? Yet none of them were the usual pattern of rumour > bid lodged > bargaining > deal imminent > accepted. Ironically, the one that actually played out closer to that was Fekir!

Mbappé and Dembélé's fees were linked to their potential. Neymar, whether you like him or not, was minimum top 5 in the world the season he left Barcelona. Coutinho was a 25 year old who despite his talent, had achieved nothing of note in his career and had questions about what his best position and use was. His fee was ludicrous. Everyone knew it at the time and they know it even more now.

I thought the fee for Coutinho was fair based upon context and what had preceded his move during the summer window that season.  We were still going for the Champions League and top four so to let him go was a massive risk on our part.  He was a key player for us.

It doesn't look fair now but it's not our fault that Barca are crap.

Pearce saying Jürgen wants Lovren to stay put.

From our point of view, it makes sense. I will never trust him but if he is 4th choice then that says we're doing an awful lot right. If we moved him on and replaced him with someone of equivalent experience and talent, we'd be doing incredibly well.

I'd rather he be 4th choice than the kid we just signed.

Bitter? I couldn't care less. Coutinho was the main player for a mid-70s points league side. He scored 10+ league goals once in 10 league seasons across Spain, Italy and England. He was so good we went from 76 pts to back to back CL finals and 97 pts when he left. Same conversation as Mbappe and Neymar for individual talent? You're having a laugh. He's closer to a David Silva level -- probably not as good though.

Barca absolutely had their pants pulled down on that Coutinho transfer. The fact we've gone from mediocrity to the greatest club team in the world since he's gone just proves it's true.

Does this mean we are definitely signing some players?
