If you're including the Welsh then you can stick Bale in there - back in his left back days.

Des Walker had a crap time at Sampdoria.  You should probably have Platt, who had a great career in Italy.

And don't forget Vinny Samway, Las Palmas legend.

Add in Laurie Cunningham too.

Chris Waddle was excellent for Marseille.

Hoddle not quite so good at Monaco.

Ince did pretty well at Inter.

Wilkins, Hateley and Luther Blisset at Milan (maybe not so good).

Souness at Sampdoria - and Trevor Francis.

Didn’t Tony Woodcock play for Bayern Munich?

One for the older forumites , but John Charles is still revered at Juventus as one of their best loved players.

Just checked with Wiki - 155 games - 108 goals . not bad for a guy who could play centre half as well.

Generally rated at the time as both the best centre-forward and best centre-half in the world.

In the early 90s, nearly all the best German players were in Serie A. Inter had Matthaus, Brehme and Klinsmann, and later Sammer. Juventus had Hassler, Kohler, Reuter and Moller. Roma had Voller and then Hassler. Lazio had Riedle and Doll. Fiorentina had Effenberg. By the mid-90s I think all of them were back in the Bundesliga. In the late-90s, the likes of Ziege and Lehmann went to Milan but struggled, as did Heinrich at Fiorentina. Bierhoff was the only German of that late-90s era to be successful in Serie A, and he was virtually a nobody before moving to Italy.

Joyce (so, the club) has just posted on twitter that we'd listen to bids north of 25m for Lovren. Also says Milan's new DoF is a big fan (though also confusingly saying that there's been "no contact" yet.

All I can say is KA-CHING! Would be great to get another young CB with potential to develop as our fourth CB, or, and hear me out here, take that money and go trigger Alderweireld's clause. I think that'd be a brilliant option - he's a top player, and yes, he's older and somewhat injury-prone, but as a player to slot in alongside Virgil over the next two years while Gomez continues to develop to his full potential I can't think of a better choice. Matip to serve as a great emergency option fourth-choice.

I was daydreaming about the mighty reds, as I do from time to time. And I started pondering about the fact we don't have any German players, which I thought was quite unusual.

Are they all shit? Are they not suited to the way Klopp plays? Are they all kuntz? and Klopp can't be arsed with them?

Really gets the noggin' joggin'

Matip is German. People often forget that.

. Matip will be off back to Schalke if he's 4th choice pretty quickly. Amd Alderweireld wants over 200k a week and will want a 4 year deal

Hopefully we fuck him off as well as getting rid of Lallana the waster.

Alderweired.  No, thanks.  To old, injury prone, and he hasn't been much more than OK this season.

The local press in Lyon are linking us with a move back for Fekir. I can't see there being any truth to that, the reliable sources were all saying last summer that deal was as dead as dead can be.

He'll be available on a free next season so Lyon will be desperate to cash in now.

I still can't see us accepting the risk though.
