Not seen anything from this dutch kid, is he fast?

Have you ever tried to get shit off a shovel? He's like that.

It’s just not happening.  We aren’t paying another 70 odd million for a centre back when we’ve got Van Dijk, Matip, Gomez and Lovren.  Even with the massive hype around him the lad needs games and space to make mistakes.  We shouldn’t be providing him that when we’ve already got the best defence in the best league in the world.  I obviously don’t watch the Dutch league but if he’s blown it away this year then I think he’s making a good decision leaving because he doesn’t want to stagnate but the worst thing he could do is go somewhere and get slaughtered for a big error in a big game.

I honestly think the best thing for his career would be to go to an Arsenal or a Spurs for a 3/4 years.  Going to Barca and playing centre back at 19 sounds like a no brainer if they want you but it could all go tits up very quickly.

Well I don't agree with this.

Klopp has shown he will play young players as regulars if they are good enough.

Gomez at the start of this season, when a lot thought he would go on loan this season.  Granted he's older, but he didn't have much experience of playing CB for us or at top level at all before the start of this season.

Trent, regular at 19 because he is elite. Yes an elite RB, where his productivity from that position is almost unmatched.

De Ligt starts for Holland.  He's captain of Ajax taking them to the CL semi final.

He can come & start for us easily.  Everyone makes mistakes, Van Dijk has this season, Gomez has, Matip has, Lovren definitely has.

I definitely can see it happening if Klopp wants him enough but age won't be the barrier as he's ready NOW.

Not that I think money will be the deciding factor on this - but when we can probably get around £25m for Lovren, that makes it more appealing & feasible too.

I don't really know much about de Ligt, but I doubt he's that much better, if even better at all, than Gomez was in the first half of last season before he got injured? If I recall correctly, he was actually outshining van Dijk at one point. Maybe we've forgotten just how good he was in that period. He's also only two years older than de Ligt. Obvious issue is his injury record.

That's some "Ibe is better than Sterling" level revisionism right there. Gomez has never got anywhere close to outshining Van Dijk. If our defence was Gomez, Lovren and Matip we'd concede 40 goals a season. It's no coincidence that every one of them look quality alongside Van Dijk.

Stating an opinion that Gomez was outshining van Dijk at one point in the early stages of the season is revisionism akin to saying Ibe is better than Sterling?! Perhaps I went a little too far by using the word "outshining", but, regardless, the point remains that Gomez was looking like a genuine top-class talent before he got injured. He was playing at least as well as van Dijk was in the early parts of the season. Neither Matip nor Lovren has ever looked anywhere near as good as Gomez did then. However, the point I was making (or the question I was asking) is: is de Ligt that much better than a fit Gomez?

Not if Lovren never played, then we probably would concede around 24.

I agree with Dim, Gomez was elite partnering Van Dijk earlier in the season & I think he was just as good if not better in some of those games.  Together they were incredible.  But De Ligt is pretty immense himself.

Must be said Matip should definitely be in the conversation as to a starter for us next season alongside Van Dijk.  He's be great too.

Those four competing for places maybe having the luxury to give Van Dijk a rest from time to time without shitting ourselves would be ace.

And to be fair to Lovren, I doubt many clubs have a better 4th choice CB than him at their club & Mo does love him.

I might be missing something here but I don’t get any criticism of Bale at all. He is absolutely world class, I’ve never heard anything about him acting like a bell and he’s delivered for Real massively when given the chance. It’s not his fault he’s on a tonne of money, not one person here would have done anything differently if

offered the same contract. I saw something about him not socialising with the other players as if it’s a negative, so what? Moreno looks like the life of the party but fucking hell.

That goal against us last year was unbelievable, can you honestly imagine one of our players winning us the champions league and then us booing him because he refused to leave a year later. Money not withstanding I’d love him here, him complimenting the current front 3 would be something else. Imagine the scenes if we then got Real in the CL next year.

I can’t say I’m a huge fan of Bake but Zidane does seem to be behaving like a right tit towards him. He said after the game that even if he’d had 4 subs he wasn’t going to be putting him on. Nice way to make your player feel!

Think Zidane is just trying to force him out. Have heard previously that the rest of the dressing room doesn't like Bake either. He refuses to speak in Spanish and its unknown if he can or not according to Marcelo. The perception seems to be he's more interested in golf that football and his teammates

Bale would never have scored those 2 against us last year if that baldy cunt hadn’t upset him. I was praying he’d start that game as it was nailed on he’d come on with a point to prove, especially against an English club.

Anyway, fuck him. This is karma you cunt

Apparently that was a load of shite. He could speak Spanish but when he signed, the likes of kroos, modric etc all spoke English as they couldn’t speak spanish so he hung around with them. The Madrid press did not like that and went after them and now it’s bales turn
