Currently living in Delhi, haven’t fully planned my holidays for the year but we’re off to Abu Dhabi, Manila and Kuala Lumpur for 2 and a half weeks from the 15th January. Then thinking Sri Lanka in May, possibly China or Japan in September and hopefully South Africa in December. Will get out to see as much of India as possible throughout the year as well, probably starting with Agra next month.

Thinking of getting some sand and a paddling pool from B&Q, cranking the central heating up to maximum and sitting around in my shorts.

Use plenty of sunscreen mate. Going on a cruise next week, getting the ferry over the water and spending an hour in Morrisons in New Brighton, then ferrying back.

Going on a two week cruise.

Norway

Sweden

Denmark

Finland

Germany

Estonia

Russia

We went on a week long one last August which went to:

Corfu

Venice

Split

Dubrovnik

Slovenia

Montenegro

Never thought I'd like a cruise but it was a Tui one so pretty down to earth. Food, service and entertainment was flawless and some of the memories were surreal.

Sat in the indoor pool with a free corona looking out the window as we sailed out of Venice and all the small boats were waiving at us, or clubbing on the top deck at night in the med with the Mrs and seeing another ship out the window.

This upcoming one seems a good way to get a taste of Scandinavia without the expense of having to eat and drink on land or pat for accommodation. Gonna go the ballet in st Petersburg in a tux too.

I’m proper on the fence about whether i’d enjoy a cruise. I suppose you never know until you try it and we definitely will at some stage, probably when the boy is older and no longer wants to come away with us.

A mate of mine did that Scandinavian cruise minus the Norwegian option. He went in October and the weather was atrocious, they missed out half the destinations, the ports closed so they had to anchor down in storms and the boat was full of ageing Americans. I did wander what he was expecting though.

St Petersburg is supposed to be stunning

Yeah I was too. The Mrs had always wanted to go, but I loved it. I think the key is the line you go with. I think P&O and Cunard are supposed to be pretty stunning but with the Tui one it was like someone had just removed a Brits abroad (in the nicest possible sense) all inclusive resort with a laser and put it on the water.

There was loads of kids too, they had a nursery and a kids club. I think you'd love it.
