I'm looking to plan a trip for next year or the year after. I don't drive so location is important. I'm not interested in any nightlife. I want somewhere good for seeing the ancient sites as Greek history and myths are interesting. Anyone been to any of the islands that fit this sort of thing. I can island hop if I wait a bit longer and save some extra money

Santorini is fantastic and you wouldn't need a car. Lots of history plus a volcano to visit .

I stayed in Fira with views over the caldera.

Downside very busy high season and cruise ships coming in with day trippers.

I went out of season in April and its perfect then. Accommodation is cheaper, you can go to any restaurant you want and its hot without being smothering.

We stayed in Kamari which is next to Ancient Thira; a well preserved Ancient town with Tombs.

Santorini is a bit pricier than other parts of Greece but going out of season negates that somewhat

I've been in April too. You're right it's better.

Nice temperature for walking too
