This is, sadly, not even close to being true.

 

For all that we mock their defenders, their defensive record under Solskjaer is actually more than decent. Their inability to score goals, however, a brief purple patch during which they got a penalty every game aside, has been a huge weakness.

 

More than anything else, they lack a really good provider up front. Rashford, Martial, even Greenwood - all capable of getting off good shots and scoring goals. However, what they're not good at is clever runs and through-balls and cutbacks and the kinds of passes that create shots for the other attackers.

Sancho would instantly solve this problem. He'd get just as many goals as Greenwood, but also add in 12-15 assists a year. Between him and Fernandes they would create a lot of havoc and score a lot more than they're currently scoring, which would pretty neatly fix their major problem without adding any defensive weakness.

 

Hopefully they don't get him and he ends up replacing Mane or Salah next summer.

You need an entire new squad before you can confidently say the overhaul is complete. Whole new first 11 and quality back ups for them. That's when you can judge the overhaul. You also have to rebuild Old Trafford brick by brick as well as revamp the youth academy. Possibly sign a few new sponsorship deals and assess how it affects our bottom line. A director of football has to have been brought in and United have to have outspent every single team in world football every season to safely say the project is now complete.
