Amazing how Carrick has sailed through this without any criticism seeing as he is supposed to be one of the two coaches that actually takes the training sessions.

His name has cropped up here and there but since the dry bumming at the Toilet, the focus has been on the Goblin

Is right. Make Woodward drag you out if he has the balls to…

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes he can save his side’s sinking season after their shock 4-1 defeat at Watford.

Solskjaer had hoped that the resumption of the Premier League after the international break might mark a change in fortune. But the heat is now firmly back on the Norwegian after a disastrous defeat at Vicarage Road.

It was a fourth defeat in five league games for United who have shipped 15 goals in that period and are in seventh place with 17 points — 12 behind leaders Chelsea who they face at Stamford Bridge next week.

Asked if he was the man to take United forward, Solskjaer said: “I always have belief in myself but of course at the moment it is a difficult time for us.

“I can see, and I trust that all the players and staff give all that they have but the results are difficult. But I believe I can turn this around.”

United were lucky to only to be trailing to goals by Joshua King and Ismaila Sarr at halftime after a poor first half performance.

There was a slight improvement after the break as substitute Donny van de Beek, pulled a goal back to make it 2-1.

But his goal proved a rare highlight and after Harry Maguire was red-carded for a clumsy foul on Tom Cleverley, Watford rubbed salt into the wounds with stoppage-time goals by Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis.

It can never be stated enough how terrible the signing of Maguire for £80m was. Worst transfer in football history.

Awful player for a top side. Really goes to show how stupid their recruitment has been.

The weird thing is, Maguire was vaguely alright when they were a compact counterattacking team. He's an old school, limited, sit on the edge of the box and head anything and anyone away sort of player. A poor man's Nat Phillips and probably worth a third of his fee.

Trying to get him to be a modern CB who plays progressively in space was suicidal.

Weirdly enough, City seemed genuinely interested at some point but wouldn't pay. He would have made absolutely no sense for them.

Similarly, they seemed interested in Ronaldo and Alexis Sanchez. Almost like they've tricked United into overpaying for all three. Maguire massively on the fee and Sanchez and Ronaldo on crazy wages.

They definitely tricked them into. Maguire for them would have made Mangala look like Beckenbauer

John Terry was similar imo. As soon as Chelsea's backline moved 10 yards further upfield he started to become exposed.   Its far, far easier defending deep.  Dare I say it but likes of Carra, Hyypia & Henchoz also benefitted from this.  Not to say these aren't bad defenders (they were bloody brilliant at what they did) but they needed to fit a certain system.  Players like VVD are generational talents that can truly cope with playing a high line and making it look easy

Of course they've put out a statement after an emergency board meeting that no decision has been made on his future. As part of the club is listed on the NYSE, they are obliged to announce significant business decisions to the exchange (and thus their shareholders) first so they can't offer a committal one way or the other before then. The previous occasions where they've put out a statement that the manager's position is not under threat were not 'decisions' and did not follow a board meeting. Keep him at the wheel you idiots! It doesn't matter than the wheel is not actually connected to the steering rack.
