This post is absolutely ridiculous.

Do our under 18s play in front of 50,000 people every other week? Do they play in a goldfish bowl where they are under huge pressure to win every single game? Is everything they say or do scrutinised by an entire country's media? Have they had to come from behind with financial handicaps to usurp their most hated rivals & win their first title in almost 10 years?

I understand people criticising the Scottish game, which isn't great but to compare being manager of Rangers to being manager of Liverpool under 18s is ludicrous.

It was slightly sardonic, of course. Of course I wasn't making a direct suggestion that the two are equivalent. But suggesting that managing in that utter joke of a league makes you ready for Liverpool is equally ludicrous.

Completely disagree with that. Premier League has done enough damage to lower league football without hoovering up even more players to play in their B teams in the English lower leagues.

We already have the players, really don't see adding another dozen.

Nah mate no chance, it would ruin those clubs even more.

You mean their quality would go down? Or their support?

Stop it. The new Eddie Howe. The German David Moyes. And a lunatic who can't even set a team up, has mastered just one style of playing and hasn't won a fucking thing in living memory and will be 69 by the time klopp retires.

There isn't one credible alternative to klopp in this league, aside from the 2 at our closest rivals, who would obviously not be in the running.

Brighton should really be nowhere near 5th looking at their mostly championship level players. Funnily enough if you look at their expected points last season, that’s where they should’ve finished! He’s a very good coach Potter, but probably needs to prove himself at a club just one tier below us e.g., Roma, Dortmund, Ajax, etc.

Hasenhutl and Bielsa are also good managers, what Bielsa did last season with Leeds was almost unprecedented. He made his mark in the history of the PL beating Pep’s City at the Etihad with ten men.

There aren’t obvious names anywhere in football atm, and the PL is by the the best in the world at the moment.

Last season wasn’t really football. Unprecedented is the right word. You’re just using it wrong.

True, people might think Scottish footy is a joke but there's far more pressure managing Rangers than what Lampard had to contend with at Derby County or even what Dyche has at Burnley.

You've also got to be a politician with the sectarian shite there.

The expectation and pressure to beat Celtic is intense. Also failing in Europe is tougher because the coefficient goes further down and losing to teams from even weaker leagues is deemed a national embarrassment.

Potter I agree is a good coach. He's basically Brendan Rodgers with less of an ego, which is fine. He's no fraud, but good enough for Liverpool? Probably not.

Hasenhuttl has a decent style of football, but he's not pulling up any trees. Defo not good enough.

Bielsa is far too erratic a personality.

These aren't bad names actually because you at least know how every one of these manager's team's play which is good. It's the minimum of what a club should be looking for.

You think Villa are better than Napoli, you "feel for" fans of Spanish clubs because of what they have to watch, and you think German football is shit because of a sample size of Timo Werner. You don't really have any idea what is happening outside of England.

Us looking at Hasenhutl or Bielsa would be utterly frightening if there was even the slightest chance that it would happen. Thankfully it won't.

Yes, obviously those three's levels are too low, ultimately.

Ok, we've had the potter one before and after a couple of weeks of scoring goals, they've reverted to type and can't score. He might set the world alight and out perform Houghton this season.

Hassenhutl is ok, but his best credential for managing us is his accent.

As.for bielsa. What was unprecedented? Loads of teams come up and do well 1st season. Then get found out. There's absolutely nothing about him that suggests he should be anywhere near a top club.

If Zorc had the same attitude, then they wouldn’t have hired Klopp.

Or Tuchel.

But we are Bayern in this. Not Dortmund

The thing with FSG though, is we have a sample size of two for appointments they've made; the unproven "young manager with ideas" in BRodge and then Klopp who was a sure thing, and obviously we got lucky with the timing of that and everything.

So really, are names like Potter all that ridiculous? Who can say, they hired one of those before. We may be Dortmund, not Bayern after all. Maybe we've evolved since 2015, maybe not.

Still think Gerrard will be most likely, though.

Gerard will stay another year or so and then maybe go to a championship club or a lower premiership outfit.

He has seen with Lampard what happens when you take a big job too early.

Plus anyone following klopp has his work cut out for him

Tbh I admire the likes of Lampard,Gerrard and Rooney for going into management when they could quite easily take the gary neville approach.

I'm.mot sute klopp was a 'sure thing

He hadn't managed in England before and while he was hugely rated there was no guarantee he would be successful as he has been

Gerrard would be the biggest mistake this Club ever made - our Ole, Frank or whatever other emotional appointment which never works out.  As great as player he was, I doubt he will be a top manager. Let’s not history repeat itself …because Souey did great at Rangers, it transfers. It won’t. When he eventually goes, we need the Jurgen successor to be the continuous candidate ( the Paisley to Shankly), not the daft emotional appointment.

Yeah, I agree. Jurgen was a 'shoe in' for the type of manager FSG envisaged. He had a massive task on his hands to make Liverpool into title challengers never mind title winners. His last season overall at Dortmund was pretty poor even if they did recover in the 2nd half of the season so dont think he was a sure thing to bring titles to the club.
