If you were playing ‘How to piss away a lot of time and effort for no good reason,’ one great option would be:

Repeatedly leak stories about how you want to sign a hot young player;

Fail to put in a bid for many weeks or even months;

When you do put in a bid, make it ludicrously below the asking price;

Get knocked back;

Repeat until just before the end of the transfer window;

Finally offer the full asking price, as you always seem to do;

Get knocked back by the player anyway.

It’s almost as though they’re run by complete clowns.

Donny van de Beek's agent has criticised Manchester United. "A substitute; I don't like it at all. I couldn't do it, coming on with four minutes left. You'd have to leave me on the bench." "They should have lost 7-1. Brighton hit the post and the bar five times." #MUFC

Well that rather depends if they get Sancho next season. If they do it's been a smart move, if they don't it hasn't.

Think this was their season to get it done. Sancho is a serious talent and I would be surprised if Madrid or Barcelona are not in for him next year.

They've lost that allure they used to have, they can't attract the best of the best like they used to (unless they pay way over the odds, which increases the risk of the signing). Their manager is shite. They're run by idiots.

Very amusing watching them getting jerked around over the Sancho deal. They don't quite get the message on the price tag or the deadline.

Do you think if they offered the asking price Dortmund would sell, given they set a deadline which is long past.

Don't know tbh but probably not given the minute chance of getting in a replacement this window but to nickel and dime them  as well is just pathetic.  It all smacks of them doing this to appease their critics back home rather than any serious belief they will get Sanchez.

Such poetry, brings a tear to the eye, a smile to the lips, a dance to the feet.

You have to wonder if there's a sense of deluded 'we're Manchester Utd' arrogance still hangs in the air around them. whereby they think when they make an offer £20M below the asking, that other clubs will listen and bow down to them, and say 'Oh ok, go on, then'.

United are possibly banking on Sancho being so desperate to move that he'll beg and plead with the Dortmund board to let him go. Not according to various stories, which say that his future is mapped out well beyond this season and next, by his father and manager. They're not dependent on the pull of a once huge club to shape his career, they call the shots themselves.

Dortmund also pay him 200k per week now which helps. So he's got the contract and financial security. So you would expect any move would be for sporting or family reasons.

Sancho is a fool to go there.

That's my wonder about it all... he's not going to turn them in to championship contenders (read that either way) so it must purely be for money?

Surely even they can see that their attack isn’t the area of largest concern?

Arsenal had bit of a blind spot on defence for a decade under Wenger... seemed to buy an Attacking Midfielder every year whilst the back four were awful.

Great stuff, say, this is what I love about the current situation - helmets like Neville are complicit in this because the bloke's his mate. He's managed Molde and Cardiff city, if you gave him a golf club he'd probably try and fuck it.

More money for Ole! Get Ed Woodward out of my club! FC united forever, Newton Heath forever, launch the planes the planes!!!
