Someone's having a real laugh - sperm of gollum to Utd.

The Bournemouth central midfielders stayed behind the ball and sat just ahead of the back 4 so Utd's pacey front 3 had no space to run into. They are a one trick pony and if the opposition sit deep, they don't have the class to open teams up.

They will need penalties or wonder free kicks to score. They were missing Shaw from their 1st eleven today, that's it.

Olé is talking about top 4.

The lowest top 4 point total in past 3 years is 71 (Spurs last year). To achieve that they will need to get 58 points from the remaining 27 games, averaging 2.2 ppg.

They have 10 points from 10 games since the opening day win v Chelsea - 2 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses.

Since the week Solskjaer was made permanent in early March, they have 5 wins, 6 draws and 9 losses. That's 21 points from 20 games.

They won't make top 4. They're shit, pure shit.

So much talk in the press even Klopp said sonething. I really hope not, wouldn't want him or Carragher near the club in a coaching capacity. If Klopp wants a rest I'd be offering the rest of the team to stay and promote from within

Just gossip, innit.

Football goes in cycles, and United are a financial behemoth.  Eventually the stars will align and they'll get their version of Klopp.  Whether that will take them above us is unknown, but they have far too much financial clout to be dogshite for ever.  Enjoy their current demise while we can.

They will never in a million years achieve the level of dominance they had under Ferguson. A cunt of a man, but a one off and they'll never see his like again.

I agree with the overall sentiment here but I think their ownership, their fans, and even some of ours have been slow to realise that their status as a "financial behemoth" is far from written in stone. If the results on the pitch don't improve soon, they will reach a tipping point financially with their sponsors.

Sponsors chase the money, and that means chasing the Chinese/American/whoever fans. Many of them who got into football when Ferguson was there are still around, but that won't last forever. Give it one or two more years outside the CL places and the next round of sponsorship renewals is going to be brutal for their finance team.

Then again, if you'd have told me in 1989 that I was about to see our last title for 30 years...

We were pretty behemothy back then ourselves.

I don't think they need a klopp, they can spend so much, they just need a manager who will combine making them feeling good about themselves and someone who is just above par as manager. Klopp is world class, I don't think they need anything approaching that. This assumes of course there won't be 2 teams aiming at 100 points forever. Once it gets back to 85-90pts and they have an adequate manager, they'll be in with a chance.

FSG haven’t shown themselves the type to put sentimentality before business.

Personally I think Gerrard is at rangers to prove he can turn them into winners - he's at a club where he's completely within the spotlight, so they'll see him perform in a goldfish bowl, they just need to know he can win. If he does he's going to be the favourite for the job. If he just keeps rangers as 2nd to Celtic he won't be close to the running.

I don't understand why people are so sure he will fail. I don't think there's anything to show either way yet. If we do choose to hire him when klopp goes, even if he has 2 titles and a uefa cup or something behind him, he will still be a gamble. But equally, everyone will be a gamble after klopp. We're a club built in his image, so it's going to be really tough for whoever follows.

Thankfully not. They've made mistakes in the past and they've learnt from them. Now it's time to learn from other's mistakes, namely Utd. There's also an increasing suspicion that Pep Lijnders is being groomed with an eye to possibly taking over whenever Klopp feels his time here is done. The seeds of this conversation were sown by Klopp himself, for which few of us will thank him, despite how much we love and respect him.

As well as learning from other's current mistakes, this hints at revisiting and learning from our own past of the Boot Room dynasty. We have the solid foundations of growing success and firm football philosophy and identity in place for that continuation plan to succeed again. At some point, Gerrard, if he truly desires to become Liverpool manager as we know he would, may need to show some humility and join again as part of the backroom team and work from there. But whether his ego would allow that, is another question entirely. He'd probably prefer to come charging back like a gallant knight on his white horse to a hero's welcome, but unless he gets on his horse and gets the hell out of Rangers and the absolute pits that is the Scottish Premier League, any return is only going to be prolonged.

I have to disagree with Barry, in saying that even if he wins at Rangers, that proves absolutely nothing. It's a ridiculously bad quality league, and nosing ahead of Celtic to win it, is no reasonable measure of what it would take to be considered favourite to take over from Klopp. There would need to be at least some success at a mid-ranking Premier League team, or even go as far as managing a Bundesliga team to challenging Bayern/Dortmund, to show that he's got some substance and track record to his unquestionable desire to manage Liverpool. Naturally, he'll want to come back and manage as soon as possible. It's not a race, however. If it's to happen and for it to be a success, it may mean he has to play a longer game, of about 12-15 years establishing his credentials, rather than trying to return at the earliest possible opportunity, and being either a relative, or absolute failure.

Not that he was ever suitable or qualified in the first place, but there is an inherent risk of being the one to directly follow the successful manager, as we saw with Moyes following Bacon Face. It has always been my view that the old bastard did that deliberately, as despite his success, his insecurity meant he couldn't bare to be upstaged by someone building on that continued success, and have his legacy forgotten. That situation would not exist at Liverpool because that's as far away from Klopp's mindset as it's possible to get. Klopp is the first to declare that he's not an expert on all aspects of management or tactics. He trusts his team, and happily delegates specialists to make whatever decisions they're best placed to make.

Ferguson never trusted his team to that extent and he held such power and made virtually every decision at almost every level, (similar to Wenger at Arsenal) that the club were held to ransom when it came time for him to go. He was the architect and builder all in one, and he so jealously wanted to protect that legacy, to the point where there actually is none. He left nothing in place to build upon. The main thing that remains from his reign, is the wealth built up from their years of domination, but even that will take a big hit as corporate sponsors baulk as they continue to tumble back to mediocrity.

Mad to think that we're 18 points clear of these bums after just 11 games.

On course to finish a casual 60 points ahead of them at that rate.

Wait til next season though, once Ole has had time to put his plans in action.

10 points off 4th already... Crazy

It's not just the points gap, they are never going to overhaul Leicester and Chelsea who have far better teams and managers. It would take an enormous leap of faith to say they could reel in Arsenal who are borderline shite.
