Think I was at that game at The Dell. Did Barnes score a mad goal ? Might have been a few years later actually.

The game you’re thinking of was 1996-97. ‘Ecru’ kit, Dave Beasant in goal.

Only penalty Matt Le Tissier ever missed.

I don’t remember that at all. I knew he only missed one penalty, but didn’t think it was against us.

Great photo. I’ve seen another one, taken a split second before, that shows SuperTed flying off out of the stadium, the selfish cunt.

Who knew Ellie Goulding was really a midfield maestro for Gladbach and West Germany in the early 70s. I didn't.

Tiny Wharton & Alan Ball.jpg

Referee Tom 'Tiny' Wharton, laying down the law to Alan Ball

Billy McNeil: "He refereed games the way he wanted to referee games. He did not bother whether the rules were strictly applied. He had his own rules."

Looks like a ref you wouldn't be fucking about with. Not sure how well he'd do with the fitness test, but who'd want to be the one to tell him he'd failed it?
