Yeah, 74 as a ten year old where my first solid memories of a WC, slightly remember the 70's finals. That West German kit from the 74 finals was ace. Great tournament as well, massive crowds in Germany and of course the politically charged game which East Germany won. Efficiency winning out for West Germany in the final  over the Dutch total football ethic. I remember the English commentators banging on about that Jack Taylor the English referee in the final as much as they talked about the football.

I know the Dutch played sexy football and had Cruyff and Neeskens, but that West German team was formidable.

Obviously have to mention the 54 WC final and the miracle of Bern. West Germany beating Hungary in the final after getting stuffed off them in the group stages.
