The GF Film Draft - Take 2

A Film Draft for the GF.

 

Proposed this a while back but it never took place. I'll PM everyone who declared interest in doing it originally.

 

Original Thread

 

The plan is we all draft a collection of films. 

 

At the end we'll vote on who's house you'd rather visit to see their collection. (That sounded creepy)  But hopefully it will be good fun & get some good film selection going.

 

To ensure we don't all just choose action films or something & have some variety I propose we all have to get films from certain genres.

 

I suggest:

 

One Black & White

One 80s

One 90s

One 00s

One 2010- present

One animated

Two wild card choices

 

One separate film per category.  You can't get a film that ticks off one or two of those.

 

Let me know if you want to play below & any suggestions on different categories or how it should work will be welcomed.

I'd struggle with just that to be honest.  But others might love them.  That's why some variety could be good.

Foreign language is a good category as it mixes things up. There'll be areas we're all strong in and others we know less about, just like with any draft.

 

I'd also like to suggest (alongside my mainstream nudity idea) a pre-80s choice.

You'd need to set out the parameters of what is a remake and what's based on though

Could always expand it out to reboots / reimaginings to save any quibbling over what constitutes a remake.

I might be in depending on how many mad categories there are.

 

On the remake suggestion, based on the many drafts I’ve done and the fact almost every person on the forum is an argumentative contrary cunt, then I’d give it a miss. 

 

I guarantee it’ll end up with murder with people arguing whether a film was a remake of some obscure Romanian film or just based on it.

If you can guarantee arguing, I'll join. Though I'm not sure I really get how it'll pan out in practice - I mean, there seems to me to be a much higher chance of not knowing anything about a large portion of the picks than there would be in a football one.

That’s the thing I’m looking forward to most. Some smarmy get who picks a 1950s Korean masterpiece that no one has seen getting nil votes while everyone jizzs themselves over a Chevy Chase film.

I think I'd lean on no for the remake one for now.  Not because Ape is right, but more importantly I want him to play.

 

He is correct that if people will try to bend the rules, they will - so vagueness should be avoided.

 

I don't think we want more than 10 categories do we?  Maybe those 8 & then two wildcard categories, so if they want a remake, porn, more foreign films etc then they can select them there.
