The GF Film Draft - Take 2

Quite happy with my 10. I think I have Spielberg's best two films, Nolan's best*, Cameron's best, Lynch's best, Pixar's best**, Reiner's best***, Brooks' best****, an unforgettable performance by the marvellous Bruno Ganz and an under-rated Scorsese classic which, I think, is actually superior to Goodfellas.

* I love The Dark Knight and Interstellar, but Inception is peak-Nolan

** okay, it's a close run thing between Wall-E and Up

*** admittedly a toss up between this, Stand By Me and This Is Spinal Tap

**** ask me again tomorrow and I might say The Producers

Is it based on awards or box office? Or a combination of both?

Just on my opinion of a film; no points if I haven't seen it, top marks if it was a film I wanted in my draft and scores somewhere in between based on my enjoyment of the film, whether I would watch again etc. Something like that.

Going to do it after my tea and see how we get on.

I'm going by my enjoyment of films.

If you go by awards it gets silly as you may as well just pick Oscar winners. By that Gandhi would be a better pick than ET. As great as that Gandhi film is its not a more fun movie. Ben Kingsley was superb mind

The voting for this is very tough. I think you could be happy if you got any of the lists as a secret Santa, and that's before you consider that there is some truly brilliant stuff that never made it onto anyone's list. For me, the best way to decide how to choose is how much variety and entertainment a list has. If there's a good mix of drama, comedy, action, story and technical brilliance, that's the one to go for.
