I think my current favourite Director Alexander Payne is worth mentioning with a couple of hat-tricks:

Election

About Schmidt

Sideways

The Descendants

Nebraska

Downsizing

I feel he captures imperfect 'Human Beings' with all their foibles exceptionally well.

Love Payne too. For me, he never made a bad film, which is why I am still putting off watching Downsizing, on account of the reviews.

If you go outside of English language or turn to classics, you can find many excellent runs, Ernst Lubitch for example has

Ninotchka

The Shop Around the Corner

That Uncertain Feeling

which are among my favourite films ever and are also sandwiched by some excellent titles.

If you exclude TV credits, Hitchcock has a run of

Vertigo

North by Northwest

Psycho
The Birds

And earlier

Dial M for Murder
Rear Window
To Catch a Thief

If you're a fan of the Director I'd say it's still worth a watch SasaS. While it's a bit of a departure for him and I felt it went off the rails in the third act there is still much to enjoy in it and still better than most of the turd that Hollywood churns out.

Seen Downsizing. Payne's run finished with Nebraska. Put the review in the film rate thread. 6/10

John Altman (Nick Cotton)

The Great Train Robbery

Quadrophenia

An American Werewolf in London

Admitedly, he only had very small parts, but still, not bad, not bad at all.

Quality obscure actor-role finding.

Richard Dreyfuss:

Jaws

Close Encounters Of The Third Kind

The Goodbye Girl

I've not actually seen the latter but - and not that this is any indication of a film's true quality - he won the best actor Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA for his lead role in that film. The first two films listed are genuinely ace.

He also played George Harrison in a made for (American) television film and was a Rebel

pilot in Return of the Jedi.

Turn it in, really?!?

Is this him?

Sergio Leone can beat 3 in a row as director no problem.

1964 A Fistful of Dollars

1965 A Few Dollars More

1966 The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

1968 Once Upon a Time in the West

1971 Duck you Sucker

1984 Once Upon a Time in America

Such a shame he died before he could make the Leningrad film he had planned.
