Trent was an absolute disgrace from minute one.  He’s defensively all over the place.  Arrogant laziness is now kicking in as well.  Scared to head it, not bothering to stop one cross coming in and from his side and his passing was just as bad tonight.  How he stayed on for the whole game is beyond me and it cost us a goal in the end.  Klopp should have intervened because it was obvious.

That was terrible. Worryingly, it’s more or less impossible to win at the weekend - we’ve had too good a record against Man City of late to stand a chance at getting anything on good form, let alone like this.

Living up to your username there. We have an excellent chance at the weekend if we bounce back which we are more than capable of

Trent was far, far, worse.

Trent played like he had never even kicked a ball in his life. Totally lost but so many others were exactly the same. Hard to pick on one when so many had shockers.

We were too deep all night too. We couldn't or wouldn't press like we normally do and that left our back line exposed to the ball over the top and short. We looked jaded and had we a single shot on target? Don't think so. That, for us is not fucking good enough.

We let them dictate to us all over the pitch and our usual calmness was fucking nowhere. Panicked rabbits in headlights we looked like.

Fuck it, let's hope it's just a bad night at the office and draw a line under it. Fuck all these hard cunting games in a row. I hope they're not taking a mental toll as well as a physical one.

Wasn't great and we got what we deserved but you know what even when we were the best in Europe we played shite and lost.

Nice to see some fannies are already out wanting xy and z dropped, how City are going to wipe the floor with us.......etc etc

it does make you think some people love us losing more than winning

I hope Clyne plays on Sunday. Trent was shocking tonight, should have been hooked and was most culpable for their goal

We need to get back to what we were doing last season. Ripping it up and trying a completely different system is not the answer.

Try 4-4-1-1, a formation we played a few times last season. This allows us to drop one or two of our out-of-form players for our in-form players e.g., Shaqiri, Sturridge.

Incredibly sloppy performance. We were very loose in possession, never made the ball stick in attack, and if I'm not wrong, not once did we have a shot on target. Shot-wise, I can only recall both Gini and Mo scuffing efforts well wide from the edge of the box.

Keita going off injured in the first half might have disrupted our set-up a little bit since he is more inclined to drive forward with the ball than his replacement Henderson would be, but Keita had also been sloppy on the ball when he was on the pitch.

The last time I can remember us looking that bad in Europe was the second half of the Europa League final against Sevilla.

Shit result that puts much more onus on the team to get 6 points against Red Star, and also means we've not won for 3 games. It's not that long ago we were winning every game.

The question for Sunday is where is the intensity going to come from - we looked totally devoid of any tonight (an all too common problem for us when we have 3 games in a week)

We need high energy, pressing and quick play to do City damage and we look miles and miles off that right now...plus they have a 24 hour jump on us..

Klopp has to start finding a way to stop these low energy and tired looking performances in the busy times.

Leaving him on cost us a goal that came from the opposite side?

Think it's time to maybe accept the squad just isn't good enough for the league and champions league. Need to pick one that we are going to focus on or will end up empty handed.

Need to sort the midfield next summer for a sustained attack on both fronts.

Our frontline have fallen to Championship levels. And we're playing without a right back essentially. Bring on Clyne and give the boy a rest. Another meaningless substitution with two minutes left is just baffling, when our attack is effectively non-existent; we didn't have a single attempt on goal in the entire 90 minutes. Time to drop some underperforming players and shift things around.
