Always love the first snow of the year.

 

I'll be hating it in a month but my kids were out playing in it and I just thought "snow is lovely." But then I remembered I have to put the snow tires on tomorrow and it brought me back down to earth.

Where I live (in Siberia) once you get about 10km from my house the roads aren't plowed at all as there's just way too many roads and not enough traffic to justify it. They get packed down into ice after a few cars go over them after a snow. So driving on your summer tyres would be less Annie Road Drift and more Fast and the Furious: Cliff Glide to a Fiery Death.

Cycling in the dark is great, particularly on paths where there's no traffic or pedestrians. You lose your peripheral vision, so you end up hyper focused. In isolation it can get a bit trippy after a while.
