What grounds have you been to following Liverpool. Faves? Dumps etc

Did loads of grounds from the mid 70's to mid 80's , going to all 42 games in 84/85 and 85/86.

Funnily enough despite us being great it was much easier to get tickets.

Drifted a bit after getting married in 1987 and just do a handful of homes nowadays.

Most memorable matches ( outside semis /  finals etc. ) probably Molineux in 76 , Leicester in 86 ( while Everton were slipping up the same night ) followed by the Chelsea game.

Used to like trips to Portman Road & didn't like the Baseball Ground.

You liked trips to Ipswich! As much as I look back to those heady days, the 4-6-8 hours trips on the special was not one of the bits I look back on with fondness. Good team in their day Ipswich and always a tough game.

Great night at Leicester. Our driver was the last one on the bus that night as he'd joined up with a Liverpool mob to get at the Leicester, in his brown Mersey travel uniform!

For the last few seasons mentioned we used to go in a car ( a purple Ford Capri )  with 3 other lads and used to try to get to places early to enjoy the craic and have a decent bevvy , so enjoyed the longer trips like Ipswich even with an early start. Thinking back the flouting of drink driving was shocking really , I remember following the McGuigan / Pedroza fight at QPR my mate falling asleep at the wheel on the M1 in the early hours coming back. I was the only other person awake in the car and luckily I was in the passenger seat and managed to keep the car relatively straight with my left hand while slapping him awake with my right.

In the earlier days, I tended to go on the British Rail specials & trying to escape the police escorts to the ground , not always successfully. I always say I have been on more marches than Corbyn.

Been to loads of games, particularly in the period between Houllier on his own up until Rodgers first season. That's when my actual registered season ticketholder wanted his ticket back.

Rather shamefully though, I'm largely a home bird and have only been away to Goodison, Ewood Park (Corrado fucking Grabbi with a late equaliser) and the Reebok. And the Millenium for the League Cup final against the Mancs.

Excluding the Millennium, Bolton was probably the best ground. But kick offs galore outside the ground and even in the stopped traffic leaving the ground. That was almost as daunting as having to watch Salif Diao at centre back. We won though thanks to a Baros brace and a late Heskey winner.

Blackburn was alright. Weird ground location though. Loads of countryside and a traditional church then you turn the corner and there's a big football ground that seems to appear from out of nowhere. Three decent stands and then one that's like a shed. And too many biffs playing big drums. At the footie.

My memory of my sole trip to Goodison is a bit sketchier. It was for a reserve derby. I just remember being quite high up and there being loads of metal bits. Shite ground. Oh, and some arl bore sat by us and wouldn't stop talking to us for most of the game. He did tell us that the young lad up front would develop into a worldie though. Micheal something or other. From North Wales or somewhere...

In England-

Anfield

Old Trafford (FA Cup SF)

Pride Park and what Swansea’s ground is called- they were exact replicas I thought

Fratton

Craven Cottage

Dean Court

Loftus Road

St James

King Power

In Europe-

Parc des Prins

Abbe Deschamps (Auxerre)

STade Oceanic (LeHavre)

Stadion Sparta in Rotterdam (plastic pitch and didn’t realize it until it snowed and a player went in for a slide tackle and no mud on him-also looked a little too pristine as well)

Craven Cottage and Fratton for old ground charm, stade Oceanic in LeHavre was interesting for its design made out to be like waves from the outside.

I've only done Newcastle once which was about 15 years ago now.  I remember that the bar was facing the stairs when you eventually get up there which was well thought out as I needed a pint by the time I made it.

I've just counted out 21 grounds that I've been to which surprised me as I didn't think there'd be as many as that.  Villa Park is a good shout among the favourites as a few have mentioned but I used to like Ewood Park in the warmer months too as it's not far away and there's a good beer garden.  I went to Preston for a cup game once too and liked the walk from the station as it was littered with good pubs along the way.  They'd be a good team to come up at some point.

My least favourites are Bolton (in the middle of a retail park - a real shame the blues didn't end up with something like that in Kirkby), Stoke (fuck all around there too other than a business park) and Wembley (only been there for cup games and the whole presentation of the way they hold games is far removed from what it should be).  I could easily throw the Etihad and Old Trafford into that list too.

I forgot Ewood Park. Been there a couple of times. Great night when we won there 3-1 in the League Cup and Rushie got a hat trick and another game when we drew 1-1 and Henchoz played for them and I think The Owl was their manager.
