That is a fucking meagre total of watching Liverpoool since mid 80s. Be interested to know if anyone’s nailed every ground in the league or something.....

Remember going to Burnden Park back in 92 to watch us scrape a 2-2 draw against Bolton in the cup. That was a proper dump, made even better by the fact that I couldn't see one of the corner flags due to the fucking supermarket built halfway across the away end.

I think Bolton had to agree to that because they were up shit creek financially. Up until recently they were again in dire straits financially, only this time they have a stadium where sight lines are not an issue.

Yankee Stadium vs City

Went to one of those money-churning exhibitions a couple of years ago.

Horrible for football, as it's not set up for it, of course.

But more than that--just a gigantic cement bowl with cheap plastic seats designed for one purpose: to jam in as many people as possible, as cheaply as possible, and drain the money out of them. Absolutely no atmosphere, no charm, nothing.

Almost identical to Wembley, actually.

On shit aways, I've been going to Newcastle every season (they've been up) since the Andy Carroll screamer/Hodgson face rub game & there's always talk of them moving the away support down to the pitch but I was watching MOTD last night & saw the Arsenal support were still in the heavens. Fucking murder.

You need breathing apparatus to get up there & then it's like watching Subbuteo.

Without checking, my list is:-

Tyncastle, Pittodrie, Celtic Park, Ibrox, Brunton Park (Carlisle Utd), Burnley, Old Trafford, St James' Park, The Stadium of Light, The Riverside & Wembley.

My favourite is probably The Stadium of Light, good record there & I like the boozer. Old Trafford probably the worst, there's no pub, I've seen us lose twice there & the place is teaming with cunts.

I went to mostly midlands grounds on away trips such as The Hawthorns,The Victoria Ground(I actually quite liked that ground) Villa Park plus Wembley(Old version) Millenium Stadium(Loved that ground and nice boozer a ten minute walk away.)Never went to manys to be honest as it was too expensive for me at the time.

Plus Old Toilet,Maine Road,Goodison and Meadow Lane.

Only ever watched Liverpool at Anfield so the worst spot is 3 rows from the front of the upper tier of the ARE. Worst ground I've watched a game at is Filbert Street. Their Kop end was ancient in the upper tier, absolutely decrepit in the lower tier, and the Main Stand was 90s modern but dull as fuck.

Some good shouts for Villa Park as it's one of the away grounds I really like.

I've only done Newcastle once which was about 15 years ago now.  I remember that the bar was facing the stairs when you eventually get up there which was well thought out as I needed a pint by the time I made it.

I've just counted out 21 grounds that I've been to which surprised me as I didn't think there'd be as many as that.  Villa Park is a good shout among the favourites as a few have mentioned but I used to like Ewood Park in the warmer months too as it's not far away and there's a good beer garden.  I went to Preston for a cup game once too and liked the walk from the station as it was littered with good pubs along the way.  They'd be a good team to come up at some point.

My least favourites are Bolton (in the middle of a retail park - a real shame the blues didn't end up with something like that in Kirkby), Stoke (fuck all around there too other than a business park) and Wembley (only been there for cup games and the whole presentation of the way they hold games is far removed from what it should be).  I could easily throw the Etihad and Old Trafford into that list too.

In truth they're all much of a muchness these days. I was expecting Turf Moor to have some, shall we say, charm. But it was blandly comfortable.

Some of the rubbish ones:

Millwall (both grounds) - utter shite.

The Dell - turd but preferrable to St. Mary’s, which is just a soulless bowl.

Boothferry Park (Hull City) - League Cup 1999/00, Erik Meijer scored twice, his only competitive goals for us.

Boothferry Park was a properly grim place. Spiked perimeter fencing and barbed wire. All the charm of a Siberian prison camp. And another ground with a fucking supermarket at one end.
