Take with a mountain of salt, my mate doesn’t even believe it but his counterpart at City told him they’re preparing for a 90 point penalty and 3 year transfer ban.

Is that the Chelsea lad that told you about the Caicedo transfer.

They've sold a fair few academy players which gives them a lot of PSR headroom.

This year it was Harwood-Bellis and Tommy Doyle. Last year it was Palmer, the year before it was Pedro Porro and James Trafford.

Some of those deals are dodgy as fuck though. They sold Trafford for close to £20m despite him only having loans in League one for Bolton!

Bought by Vincent Kompany: as they often say on American light entertainment programmes these days, "You do the math..."

Anything less than being stripped of everything they have won wont be good enough. What other sport let's you keep your titles when you have been caught cheating. They have stolen other sides achievements.

When you think about it its just 11v11 on the pitch and if the better side wins that's fair enough, but when you add in the officials actually giving crazy decisions to the same side it stinks. Premier league should be investigated fully as to their corrupt involvement in this shit show but that's not going to happen.

That’s like making Lance Armstrong put spoke beads on his front wheel for a year.  Yippety do.

Probably whatever they don’t achieve this season they get deducted next season.

It won’t happen. I hope I’m wrong.

If they did it now it would take them down to -52 points this season which would relegate them as even if they won all their remaining games they'd finish rock bottom on -4. Alternatively they could start them on -90 next season which would effectively relegate them as they'd only be able to get to 24 points and they'd have to win all 38 games to do that.

My worry is that if they waited until next season they'd find some legal way to overturn it before it got to the end of the season.

There's absolutely no chance City will accept any form of punishment though.

Is right.

They'll tie it all up in all sorts of appeals/litigation etc etc and they won't care how long it goes on or how much it costs.

A guilty verdict and a punishment will be in no way, shape or form the end of all this - it will just be the beginning of an even more unsavoury episode in abu dhabi's ongoing destruction of the game as we know it.

How would a 90pt penalty work?

It should be the next 90 points they earn. Fuck up this season and next. Maybe even make a dent in the season after. Hopefully!

Impossible to do, of course - for example, which league would it be in, how can you punish the future for the past argument etc - but I really like it.

One thing that nobody seems to think about is that Sheikh Mansour is far more powerful than any previous owner of a club that has faced disciplinary issues.

Most clubs kick up a bit of a fuss but then eventually just get on with it like Everton and Forest did last year, but there's not a cat in hells chance that this happens with City.

Remember when Uefa tried to ban them from the Champions League for two years and they took it to the court of arbitration for sport and got it completely annulled.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire said that there'd be very limited grounds for appeal, but again he's just expecting a normal reaction.

I'm amazed it has gone as far as it has gone in all honesty, and the Premier League are pretty fucked either way now.

If they try and hit City with a harsh punishment they will feel the wrath of a very powerful wealthy nation state. If City get away with it then it means all rules are out the window and any team that isn't backed by a nation state is just going to be blown out the water financially.

I reckon FSG are watching this very very closely and it's partly why we've spent even less than usual this season. If City aren't punished they know that the games up for them and their business model.

This recent talk about Elon Musk buying us can't just have come out of thin air and their must be talk in those circles that we might be available soon.

There was talk of a possible Saudi takeover a few months ago. I do wonder if any of the oil state would be put off by older fans reactions or if they'd just think the twitter generation wouldn't give a fuck and it's just about spending on big players. Sme with Musk but I think he wouldn't give a fuck about fans thoughts.

It's a gloomy outlook. As much as I'm not all in with FSG, a oil state,Musk type would really be a different level of being uncomfortable with what football has become

Isn't there just one avenue of appeal to the Premier League and no allowance of further appeals to CAS?

That's my recollection anyway

They'll go shouting at the government with threats if it doesn't intervene

He was on a podcast a couple of years back called undr the cosh, and I’d recommend anyone listening to it to see just what a level of unlikeable he actually is.

It is also very much their culture that they can  buy/do whatever they want and nobody can stand in their way - they just bulldoze any obstacles with money.....the PL are small fry in their eyes.

As for us being for sale soon. I tend to agree.
