Man City - the new bitters?

This was discussed in the pub last night, not for the first time. I’ve shared the opinions I hear before but, in summary;

1. A few were saying they hope City are completely cleared. There is a belief that football is run by a “red cartel” that includes; Liverpool, Arsenal and United.

Apparently if it was ok for United to “buy the league” under Ferguson, the same should go for City.

2. The fact that City’s cheating has negatively impacted Liverpool is seen as hilarious. Everyone was in agreement (not me obviously) that they’d rather City win the league than Liverpool, all day long and twice on Sundays.

3. Klopp is seen as a “moaning cunt” and the whole of English football is glad to see the back of him. He’s also a myth and a failure.

I would get annoyed, but most of these are Leeds fans so their opinions on anything football related are meaningless.

My wider concern is that, although apathy is probably the largest feeling among opposition football supporters, many of the views above are also shared.

Nobody cares about abu dhabi - yet....

Give it another 10 years of this domination and it will change

But for now they are nobodies rivals - even the club they share a city (sort of) with don't see them as their main rivals.

So the vitriol aimed at us and the mancs is never going to be as easily found when it comes to them. I've said it before and i stand by it, people all over the land live with liverpool and man utd fans day in, day out - in the pubs, at work etc etc - you for example there in with those Leeds fans, i bet there isn't an abu dhabi fan in there...

Definitely not. It’s mainly Leeds where I live, a good few United (I call them that to annoy Leeds fans) and a similar number following Liverpool.

There’s a smattering of Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday, and Barnsley fans. I also know one staunch Newcastle fan, a WBA fan, and another who claims he’s Everton, which could be true as he knows fuck all about football.

Zero City fans, at least among the over eighteens anyway.

Nope - born and bred in Wakefield. Just wanted to be different I guess. Goes to the games and everything, so fair play.

Fucking hell!

Easy way to test if the everton fan is indeed an everton fan - ask him a load of questions about us....If he gets most of them right then it is safe to say he is a bitter.

I have a mate from school, growing up in the 80's and 90's he started to support Wolves for no other reason than he liked the gold/black Goodyear kit.

I've been away on a stag weekend with a mixture of fans of other teams.

The consensus was that if they are guilty they should get a deduction of ten points!

Ten fucking points!

They'll be 12 to 15 points clear at Christmas.

I think that fans of most teams outside of 'the red cartel' don't really know much about it.

A mate was saying he wouldn't like it if we were retrospectively awarded titles but I don't get that at all, we were literally pipped. If you finish a second behind Lance Armstrong then you've won the race as far as I'm concerned.

We were pipped twice and clearly would have won the league those seasons if it weren't for the cheats, however if you give it to second place you get the likes of United winning the league even though they were twenty points behind!

10 points for over a decade of cheating! Fucking hell.

I never understood this kind of an argument - I have heard people say getting titles from the past is not the same as winning it now, there will be an asterisk against it blah blah blah.....

Of course its not the fucking same but if it was not for the cheats we would have WON TWO MORE FUCKING TITLES. So what if they are from the past? If a team that finished first cheated, then the prize should go to the team that finished behind them. So fucking what if the opposition fans make fun of that? They made fun of our teams & manager who gave every ounce of sweat & blood, countless number of hours of training, tactical discussions & plans to only finish behind the biggest cheat in world football twice by a point, achieving 97 and 92 points.

There is no way that the person in second weren't doped also, just that they weren't caught, so not too sure how good that analogy works there....

To be honest, I'm just not arsed about it. I'm sure the players are. For me as a fan, winning the league is about 2 things, the journey and then the pinnacle when you take that journey over the line and win it. We got the journey. We didn't get the best bit and we can't get that back. I'll always remember how we won the league cup last season. It won't matter what happens with the cheats, it won't make me forget when kompany jammed it from 35 yards or the disappointment on my daughter's face when rumour went around anfield they were behind again against villa, then we discovered they weren't. We can't get those moments back. They should lose their titles, but I'm not arsed about picking 3 up on the other side of it.

After today's news reports the government had MI6 involved to make sure the Newcastle takeover went through it shows you what the regulator and government will be doing behind the scenes to ensure City get something they are happy with.

Suspended points deduction, transfer ban(starting next summer) and a massive fine
