Their cynicism is only matched by the pathetic submissiveness of the media. Look at some of the back pages today - all about poor City and us terrible hooligans forcing them to put up fences again. 'Quick, let's deflect attention away from the legal stuff - get it done!' 'No one will swallow that , boss'. 'Yes they will - here's some money!'

Someone in the press should ask them about this incident from just a few years back.

Exactly. They're using their own fans as PR material. Every time we beat them, within hours some negative story is planted by their press office - anything from someone shouting at Guardiola to yet another attack on their oh so fragile bus. And now they're countering coverage of their own corruption with re-hashed stories about old incidents. And the papers are swallowing it all without hesitation. It's pathetic.

Someone posted a twitter based podcast on here of 2 city fans who appear to be lawyers. They pretty much said the same thing. Interesting was the lead one was astonished the PL had made these charges because they are so big in consequence.

But despite all that, I'm sure at the end no matter the guilt, they'll get a slap on the wrists.

My hope is if they are found guilty, HMRC (or whoever is responsible) then go after them for false accounting and fraud. That would be very funny.

Yup, he's always had a view that's basically along the lines of- it's foreign direct investment and he doesn't understand why football as an industry should be different from any other (I.e. we should be encouraging investment in UK firms etc.). Part of this comes from the view that the big clubs already hold a monopoly on trophies so what's the issue if it's only one hoovering them up?

What the sponge fails to think about is that City are completely warping the game; transfer fees, wages and agent payouts are all higher because of their effect on the standard market rate, which in turn is damaging other clubs and causing cumulative financial and competitive damage to the game. I think it's notable the sheer amount if debt top clubs in Europe are carrying in order to keep up with them.

He bemoans clubs raking up said huge debts every week on his podcast with his deeply unfunny mate and then seems completely ok with the private entity driving a significant chunk of the cost pressure that those clubs are trying to compete with. Impressive levels of cognitive dissonance.

And he is a self proclaimed football finance expert, which is then re-enforced by his constant TV & radio appearances, despite him talking utter shit. What I've often found with him is he knows very little - if you're aware of a subject matter, he nearly always has it wrong. But he's across all the stories, so often seems the expert as he's the only on who knows about it. I sometimes.listen to the podcast, but use it as a reference point to read about the stories I'm interested in, because he's not competent enough to understand nearly anything and has little to offer beyond his big club hatred.

To be fair on Sky they cut to Melissa Reddy after and she did say they weren’t cleared on all charges.

That's something I suppose, but it needs someone in the room to pull him up and make him explain himself.

It occurred to me yesterday though, what if he doesn't actually know! Imagine they just told him after the hearing "yeah we've been cleared of all wrong doing" and he didn't bother checking what actually happened.

Obviously he does know, I'm just saying, it would be hilarious if he didn't and a journalist had to explain it to him.

Blows my mind people think one slip during the course of an entire season cost a title!   shit we wouldn't if been anywhere near a title challenge without Gerrards contribution not even close.

You're right? But now thats trending on twitter, with social media its very easy to change the narrative.

I'm 100% sure their PR team just goes on bluemoon for research and base their press conferences on that.

So many posts I've seen written on there which are repeated by the likes of Pep a week or so later.

Almost feels a little bit like it's out of the Moyes playing to the gallery handbook. Give them some little soundbites to get the natives on side and they're willing to overlook some of the other bigger issues.
