Man City - the new bitters?

Kompany’s testimonial is on Sky, irrespective of who he played for I have lot of time for him as he did a lot, and gave a lot, to numerous charities and organisations, a bit like Dirk.

Anyhow’s it’s a City ‘legends’ team Vs a makeshift PL 11. Manchester City legend Craig Bellamy just came on.

They really have no history apart from Bell do they?

Im waiting for Giorgio Samaras and Micheal Johnson to come on in the second half and tear shit up!

Kompany said pre-match that Virgil is already the greatest ever Premier League era centre half.

Fair fucks to him for putting aside his City links and calling it like it is.

Yes fair play, as well as a very good player , I have to say, he also came across as a decent lad too.

Had a quick look at blue moon, they're crying because some online poll has VVD as a better CB than Kompany, even though Kompany agrees with this himself.

And crying because there's no mention on the front page of BBC sport website about the testimonial and the 52, 000 fans in attendance. All a big conspiracy to treat their club with contempt apparently.

He wasn't though was he.

He had two good years at City was a adject failure at Ajax average at Derby. He was a career journeyman who has a good two year spell looking the star man in a shit City pond. 13 years at international level less than 60 caps.

The good goals at City masked a average player

Nah, he was a jinky genius.

If you can't appreciate a player like Kinkladze then you've got no romance in your football soul.

2 years looking the big fish in a shitty pond doesn't make you a genius or great player. He couldn't do it when he got his big move to Ajax

Gheorghe Hagi was shit at Barcelona.

Doesn’t matter. He was a football genius as well.

These types are some of the most interesting and loved players in football history, sad if you can’t appreciate them.

One story from pre-season has it that Guardiola even told a member of the backroom staff he would not be coming on the tour if he was a kilogram overweight. These are the standards of a genius.

No, those are the actions of a total cock womble.

Jari Litmanen > Georgi Kinkladze

Exactly

But he couldn't cope playing in another position or take the shirt when Litmanen left. As I say a journeyman that shone in a pond of shite for 2 years, 96/97 is the only stand out year

The fact we are debating his merits 22 years after his "flash in the pan" season suggests he was someway above average

A number 10 that scored 4/12/4 goals at his peak at City. He scored a couple of great goals that's what remembered.
