Apple Trade In

Has anyone done this successfully? We are looking to trade in our iMac for a new one and the online quote is £170, which I'm happy with for a seven year old machine. It says you can take it in to the shop and the  you'll get your gift card. What I'm not clear about though is the timescale. It says up to two weeks but that seems to be for the postal option.

If I fill in the details today, can I just go to the Apple Store in town tomorrow morning, get it checked, get the voucher and buy my new Mac there and then? Or is there a delay. I can't find any advice anywhere that makes that explicitly clear either way.

Cheers in advance.

When I traded in my iPhone 7 Plus for an iPhone X I did it in store. They checked the phone over and said I could either have a gift card for £240 or just get that amount deducted from the price of the X, I did the latter.

Not sure if it’s the same procedure for a Mac, but it was straight forward enough.
