Reading that Origi move has collapsed.

I send Solanke up to Rangers for the year then and keep Irigi and the 3rd choice. Solanke is far from ready but needs games.

What good would sending Solanke to Rangers do? Might as well play him in the U23s or send him to the 2nd division. He needs games but he also needs to play against and with decent players to bring his game on. If he goes anywhere on loan, a bottom half Prem side or top Championship would surely be better for him and us. Apart from game time, don’t see what anyone would gain from sending him up there.

Stevie might gain a title because he'll score about 30 goals a season up there. Gives the lad a bit of confidence i suppose and throws him into the cauldron style atmosphere of the Old Firm. I like that move for him. It makes a lot of sense.

Yep

Looks likely to play in Europe. Would score goals, increases his value etc. Look at Dembele, one great season and talks of 20-30ml for him. Thohgh its gone bachwards since.

He needs to play every week and im not sure that happens in the Premier league. Championship would be fine too as long as he plsys every week. Premier league isnt doable anyway with the window shut

Harry Kane went to Leyton Orient and Millwall , who were nowhere near the stature of Rangers & it did him good. No guarantees of course but scoring goals & getting kicked by caber throwers might be the making of him.

He wouldn't score that many up there. Dembele is a far better player as is Griffiths. r*n gers have that lad up front who scored a hat trick for them the other night who would play over solanke. I don't think he will ever make it here.

I think it was Noe who posted a statistical graph of Solanke's attacking stats last season and they were excellent. A lot of his chances were either good saves, incorrectly ruled out goals or fine margins.

I'm not saying this to put the Scottish league down but i genuinely reckon he'd be mint up there. He was the player of the tournament in the U20 World Cup.

It seems like Solanke runs a shit load. I don't have all the stats, but in the game against Burnley when Klavan got the winner Klopp said he ran 12,5km which he says is rare for a striker. That will be very important.

When you look at that level of effort and the positive impact that kind of running has for a team, his good expected goals stat, which have been posted in the past by Ne Moe and The Woolser, I think, and the fact he showed he could be a good foil to the other front players (like against Brighton at Anfield last year, for example), I don't think he's getting loaned and I think Klopp believes he has a future here.

Behave Stig. If he can't score in Scotland where Pea Head Griffiths is the best player he won't make it as a footballer anywhere let alone here. It's a terrible league, just ask AEK and Molde.

I'd be very surprised if Solanke is even a Premiership level striker in the next few years. I think he'll end up in the championship.

Not many gaps in our side but when the bus is parked we really miss someone who can lash in a 30 yarder and break the deadlock. Also missing a free kick demon.

Sign Neves and that's both of those issues fucking sorted. Would be a great signing.

Neves is going to blow the title race wide open today.

Tierney is the best player in Scotland but ok. You clearly didn't read my post properly.

I would be very surprised if this happened.

I'm not saying Solanke is going to be the next Messi, but he'll be in a top league for sure. And he's actually pretty well suited for a club like Liverpool - he won't ever score like Sturridge does but he could be a poor man's Firmino for us if he continues to improve in his pressing.

Solanke gets into excellent positions to score, his poor goal return is down to bad finishing which all kinds of analysis shows is mostly variance/luck. By way of comparison, Suarez is a "below-average finisher" for the last 3 years (when compared to xG) but he gets into amazing positions to score a lot and that's far more important than him getting lucky on a small sample size and scoring 2-3 more than you'd expect.

Again, I don't think Solanke will ever be as good as peak Torres or Fowler or anything, but he doesn't have to be. He's already better than Origi and in my opinion is certain to be ahead of Origi in the pecking order if both stay. For that matter, I think he'll get a lot of games ahead of even Sturridge, depending on what Klopp is looking for from that position for that game.

That’s it then, Solanke is destined to give us a definitive answer on who’s right the between the ‘I judge with my eyes’ posters and the ‘statto mega nerds’ posters.

If he makes it at Liverpool the stattos will reign supreme. If he continues to be shite then they’ll all have to pipe down.

    • City’s fans went mad (all ten of them)   Nice one Dave
    • I’m always more than happy to take a different source.
    • Their positional judgement is questionable. In the 5-1 Brighton away game we played 3-4-3 and Coutinho definitely played  on the left of a front three, not part of a midfield six as they have it down!
    • Saturday Jun 8:   Fuck all happening at the moment. The most interesting thing I saw today was something on Twitter that might have been complete bollocks for all I know. It got my attention though. Klopp was apparently invited onto the Graham Norton Show but declined, as he preferred to go on holiday instead.    Completely understand why Kloppo couldn’t be arsed with it, as he doesn’t get much opportunity to get away from it all and spend time with the family. Besides, he’s not really into all that celebrity jazz anyway. Still, imagine how fucking funny he’d have been on there. He’s the only manager with the personality to pull a show like that off.   Actually I tell a lie, my man Tim Sherwood could do it. If he had a job. And if he ever actually won something. Tell you who couldn’t pull it off. Pep, the boring bastard. He’d be whining about not getting credit for his treble and telling everyone about how big John Stones' balls are. Actually, that might make decent telly thinking about it.   Is this what the summer is going to reduce me to? Just talking absolute shite about nothing to fill space? Anyone makes a crack that it doesn't take the summer to have me doing that can fuck off.   Oh wait, something did actually happen today. Robbo scored a screamer for Scotland. It was like the shot he had in the final against Spurs only this one went in. Willing to bet here and now that he bags at least a couple like that next year. He’s finding his range I reckon. Imagine how good he’ll be when he adds a few goals to his armoury. We’re talking Balon d’or.
Sunday Jun 9:   England won the third place game against the Swiss after penalties. I didn’t watch it as to be honest I didn’t even know it was on. I wouldn’t have watched even if I had known, but I might have dipped in and out of it just to check on Shaq.   Trent had a good game, apparently. I only know this because Lineker was tweeting about him. Again. Lineker obsesses about Trent almost as much as Man City’s press office obsesses about the Reds.   In the final, Portugal beat Holland, which is a minor blow to Virgil’s hopes of pipping Messi. It shouldn’t make any difference either way really, but if he’d skippered Holland to this trophy it might have had an influence. Bernardo Silva was named player of the tournament, much to the visible disgust of Ronaldo.        Maybe he is just a selfish, self absorbed, individual glory above the team wanker, or maybe he’s just playing up to that now and it’s all just some elaborate in-joke between him and his team-mates.   He pulls this kind of shit all the time. The hissy fit he threw a few years ago when Arbeloa nipped in front of him to score a back post tap in was sensational. Is he really this much of a diva or is he just winding us all up? I reckon it’s a bit of both, as that one today can’t possibly be real.    Meanwhile, one of his Portugal team-mates is hoping for a call from the Reds. Bruno Fernandez (who I mentioned a couple of weeks ago after he said he likes us better than City), is reportedly wanted by Spurs to replace Eriksen but he’s holding out in the hope that Klopp makes a move.   United want him too, but what self respecting decent footballer is going to join that circus when there are better offers on the table?    They are on the brink of signing that Welsh winger from Swansea and they’re being linked with Longstaff from Newcastle. They have no idea what they’re doing. They tried the “throw massive money at superstars” approach and it bombed spectacularly. So now they’re going oppo and doing it the “sign young and hungry players from unfashionable clubs” route.   It won’t work because they don’t have the structure (or manager) in place to make it work. It’s a long way back for them fuckers.     This is just a teaser, click here to read the full article   Please note that 'the Week that Was' is only available to website subscribers. • I'll give you Alisson (bought months later obviously), where has Klopp been clear that there is no VVD purchase without Coutinho leaving? We tried to buy him in the previous summer of course, or was that just a smokescreen?
