Makes fuck-all sense to bring in a player who wants to defend the 18-yard line into a defensive set-up that deploys a high line. Sarri likes his defence to play higher too which is why Cahill isn't getting a look in any more.

He’s an experienced centre half who  knows the league. We would only need him until Gomez gets himself fit. His experience would also be valuable.

He hasn't got a release clause until the summer.

You're right, it isn't active until the summer.

We're going to be sticking Fabinho in beside Virgil by the look of it, and waiting for Gomez and Matip to come back.

 

But we're one injury away from throwing a 16 year old into a league game. That's fucking scary.

The release clause doesn't work till June

He wants 200k a week and will want a 4 year deal and is 30. Not going to happen. 

 

Matip might be back for Brighton. 

Gomez back in 2-3 weeks. We only have 2 games before the 30th Jan. We are not signing a CB

We definitely need a centre back. Beyond fucking stupid letting clyne go when he is solid reliable cover at right back. Do not want to end up with gomez right back and fabinho at centre back condemning us to a midfield trio  of gini, Henderson and Milner.

I'd take Cahill off Chelsea right now. Obviously not as a long term solution.
