Danny Ings started once more for Southampton at home, but was replaced in the 69th minute as Leicester scored very late on to claim a 2-1 victory

Harry Wilson is still injured, so was not in the match day squad for Derby.

Woodburn came off the bench in the 86th minute for the Blades in their 3-0 win at Bolton.

Herbie Kane played the full 90 as 10 man Doncaster drew 0-0 at home to Portsmouth. Herbie picked up a yellow card in the second half.

Conor Randall was an unused sub for Rochdale this afternoon, who were beaten 2-1 by visitors Walsall.

Shamal George was an unused sub for Tranmere, as the home side earned a 1-0 victory over Port Vale at Prenton Park.

Marko Grujic started on the bench for Hertha Berlin in their Bundesliga opener. Marko would be introduced in the 90th minute to help run down the clock as Hertha began the season with a 1-0 home win against Nurnberg.

Allan was not in Frankfurt's match day squad for their visit to Freiburg. The visitors would pick up a 2-0 win to start their league campaign.

Why do most of our loan outs end up on the bench?

I would imagine most clubs are interested in developing and using their own players first and then using loans as and when necessary. Sounds obvious but unless they're a class apart they will surely be second choice.

Ovie Ejaria started and scored for Rangers this afternoon before being replaced in stoppage time at the end of the game, as they drew 3-3 away at Motherwell. Ryan Kent was an unused sub.

Taiwo Awoniyi came off the bench in the 68th minute to help Gent turn round a 1-0 deficit and pick up a 2-1 home win over Lokeren. Anderson Arroyo was not in the match day squad. This game probably came too soon for Arroyo to be involved.

Midweek update.

None of our loanees were involved in the Carabao Cup games on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Ovie Ejaria and Ryan Kent both played the full 90 for Rangers this afternoon in their 1-1 draw away at Russian side Ufa. Ejaria scored the decisive goal in the 9th minute for Rangers, resulting in them progressing to the group stages with a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Taiwo Awoniyi started for Gent as they travelled to Bordeaux for the second leg of their qualifier. Taiwo was replaced in the 63rd minute with Gent 1-0 down. Bordeaux would score a second from the spot just moments after Taiwo was replaced. Bordeaux progressed 2-0 on aggregate.
