Well, retirement is essentially what it is; it’s certainly not a sign of ambition on Rafa's part. Perhaps he saw no way back after the Newcastle situation. No top club is going to be remotely interested and he probably has little desire to embark on another lower-mid table 'project' that goes nowhere.

He'll earn a decent wedge in China & take over Spain when they struggle in Qatar next year.

Some managers take a break away from the game and end up on some TV channel earning a few bucks.

RB is basically taking a break himself, and earning a shit load in the process.

Stuff dreams are made of.

Picture this Doug, you've got Klopp, the Mancs have got Solksjaer and Chelsea have got Lampard and a transfer ban.

Now isn't that worth a measly extra 200 credits?

Okay to be fair we don’t know how good Lampard is as a manager. Pep didn’t do much before he took over from Rijkaard.

I can state quite categorically he's going to be shit.

Compounded with the fact they've lost their best player, have a transfer ban, and he'll get about ten minutes to prove himself.

Can picture him being like a slightly more upmarket Tim Sherwood. He'll be hugging players as they leave the pitch and chatting psuedoshit in the press conference after a win, but doesn't have the wits, smarts or experience to do the job.

I'm just not going to believe that an ex-England player from that generation will become a good manager. None of those players saw/see the game like the elite managers do and they all seem a bit thick. Although, Lampard is meant to be smart, apparently.

Lampard will get time because he has multiple factors going against him from the start and he's a legend, but it will very most likely end in tears.

Apparently he has an IQ of 150.

I agree that he'll flop, though.
