The problem with sacking Sarri is ... it's Chelsea. They've already had virtually every major manager out there. Who could they possibly bring in?

I just went and looked at the odds and the favourite is ... Frank Lampard? With them going into a two-window transfer ban and probably out of the CL? That does NOT sound like a recipe for success at all.

Nor does it look like great timing for Lamps to take it on

Chelsea really are shambolically run. Their squad looks like a patchwork blanket of Mourinho, Conte and Sarri's ideas. There's no consistent strategy to speak of. They've spent almost £200m this season and nobody's made a significant impact.

Watching Barcelona on itv4

OK we all know how good they are and their two goals so far tonight were world class - but they really can be got at and got behind.

IF we end up playing them in the european cup we could definitely cause them a lot of probems.

They're determined to destroy football aren't they? Fucking ridiculous

It comes down to them realising that for all the talk of a breakaway Superleague, we effectively already have a Superleague and it's the English Premier League.

The financial conditions that mean that the 17th-placed team in our league earns more from TV and prize money than the champions of almost any other league (including France and Italy, I think) mean that for all intents and purposes the Premier League already IS a Superleague. As more and more you see the likes of Leicester and West Ham and even Fulham going and buying some of the best players in Serie A, the Bundesliga and Ligue Un, the league becomes more and more entrenched at the top.

The powers in Spain, Italy and Germany in particular are terrified of this, especially Real Madrid and Barcelona. Hence the attempts to break away, and now that that hasn't happened, the attempt to use the CL to create a Superleague through the back door like this one. Remains to be seen whether they'll succeed, but in my opinion if you give the PL another 10-15 years on this trajectory then it will be too late for them and the Superleague will never happen.

The effects of the financial clout of the Premier League on other leagues has been apparent for a while. Bayern are signing players like Gnabry and Hudson Odoi, where as in the past it'd be players like Sadio Mane and Raheem Sterling. Real Madrid are playing kids like Vinicius jr when in the past that spot would be filled by Neymar (or someone of that ilk).

Barre Barcelona and Juventus, pretty much every other team has suffered from the Premier league creaming off the leagues best players. Bayern lost out on De Bruyne and Sane. PSG missed out on Fabinho and Lacazette. It's only really Juventus and Barcelona that have remained unaffected.

Unfortunately this is the result of having a trigger-happy owner who doesn't know how to stick with what he has and would rather keep twisting until he busts. How he became a wealthy businessman with such an attitude is beyond my comprehension.

Could say the same thing about Everton.. Shambles, patchwork of martinez, koeman, silva, spent a fortune, etc

City's game against Cardiff could be moved to the midweek before the end of the season. Potentially good news for us. They will still win against Cardiff but could leave them tired for final league game at Brighton.

I can't see them winning all their league games. They have only dropped 3 points since christmas. Were they to do that, they would go down as a great side. Grudgingly admittedly because they are juiced up. Anyhow, i still feel we just need to keep putting points on the board and 95 points will probably do this. As yesterday showed, no game will be easy.
