On 24 February 2019 during the 2019 EFL Cup Final against cup holders Manchester City, with the match at 0-0 and a penalty shootout imminent, Maurizio Sarri's called for Arrizabalaga to be substituted off for Willy Caballero (whose penalty saves won ex-club Manchester City the 2016 Football League Cup Final). However, Arrizabalaga refused to be substituted and continued with winking at a television camera. During the shootout, Arrizabalaga let in under him a weak effort by Sergio Aguero, then saved from Leroy Sané, as Chelsea lost the shoot-out 4–3.[30][31] After the game, both Arrizabalaga and Sarri said that the situation was a misunderstanding with Sarri believing that Arrizabalaga was too injured with a cramp to continue, but Arrizabalaga felt okay to continue.[32]

Hopefully City having to play extra time will have an effect on their energy levels and with a bit of luck Laporte and Fernandino will be out for a while.

I'm just praying for them start dropping points in the league even by drawing a couple of games.

Annoyingly they’ve got a home game against West Ham Wednesday then Bournemouth away at the weekend. Then Watford at home a week later. After that no league game till 30th March against Fulham.

Fernandinho missing is big for them but can’t see them dropping points against any of them. We’ve just got to keep winning our games

Nobody gave Newcastle a hope in hell against them. They are not going to win every remaining league game, we just need to sort our shit out at this end and see where that gets us.

I agree they should be winning those games but they should have beat Newcastle.

I'd be delighted even if they drew one or two of those games.

The sheer amount of games they will end up playing has to take its toll eventually. Their away form has been worse than ours so far in the league and they still have to go to Old Trafford which you would hope Utd will be well up for. Fernandinho was a huge loss for them earlier in the season, they don't really have anyone else who's as reliable as him in that position, so hopefully they struggle without him again.

For us I'm more worried about our home games. Still got Spurs and Chelsea to come to Anfield. Kane is back for Spurs, Son is in the form of his life and the sheer amount of luck they get is unbelievable. Chelsea look shambolic at the moment but Hazard fucking loves playing against us.

I would say a nice 3-0 twatting of someone at Anfield should kick us into gear, but we just had one of those, and we still look shite going forward.
