Had we lost to City and held on at Arsenal we'd have 34 points to City's 37. With City's goal difference that's effectively a 4 point margin. It's the games against the shit you can't afford to draw and we haven't failed yet.

Mate, you and I both know we have failed massively

If they had any sense , looking at that list , the FAI would make a beeline for Kenny & not even contemplate the other 5 wage-hoovering bores. Probably the cheapest option too.

Seems they're appointing McCarthy as first team manager, Stephen Kenny as U-21 manager, but Kenny will take over from McCarthy after Euro 2020. Interesting move.

Kenny is also going to oversee the coaching and development of the under 15's to under 19's

its actually a really clever move imo

Absolutely, if they rate him that highly it gives him two years to grow in to the job, all while stamping his mark on the whole set up from under 15s upwards.

McCarthy is an old steady head who knows the set up well, and is at an age where he'll probably be quite happy to hand over after one last hurrah.

This is an absolute shitshow. Should be an interesting game, as if it needed any more fucking intrigue. Come on, Boca

Not looking good...

Still no sign of any team sheets and this game is meant to start in just under 10 minutes.

Hate for this powder keg of a game to have to interrupt my enjoyment of this beach volleyball tournament...

What channel is that being broadcast on?

It doesn't help that CONMEBOL and the Copa Libertadores organisers have been sending mixed messages about the game going ahead. The game should definitely not have been going ahead today after these events (which are far worse than anything that happened before our CL first leg against City) but I suspect they believe there might be a riot if it doesn't, although the constant delays won't help the (eventual) game or the situation. Boca turned up in a coach covered in Boca logos which wasn't the smartest move. Regardless of all this, it is the behaviour of the fans of both clubs (and Argentinian club fans in general) that needs to change. There has always been a rivalry, but the modern day fan rivalry takes things way too far.

I never thought I'd see the day when a Manchester United side led by Mourinho would be 12 points behind Liverpool after 13 games. Liverpool applying the coup de grâce next month would be brilliant.

Also, should BMG lose, Dortmund will be 7 points clear on top of the Bundesliga. Nice.

Copa -- Won't be til tomorrow - postponed

Just saw that on the BBC website. Quite why they delayed it for 2hrs15mins and then just cancelled it is reckless. I suspect there will be more trouble out on the streets as the fans leave the stadium frustrated. Nonsensical.
