2018 Pre-Season Match Thread

It does look as though we have a couple of risk points going into the season.

If we can't rely on Matip then Klavan is our only centre half cover.

Lovren does get the odd injury and he does miss games

And while Shaqiri (maybe one of the youngsters too) can cover the wide forward position's, outside of Sturridge (who surely it would be madness to sell) we don't have any cover for Firmino.

Doesn't look like we're going to do anything about it either

Like someone else said earlier, Salah is the back-up for Firmino, with Shaqiri coming in to play on the right. Only if both/all three are unavailable will Sturridge or Solanke see game time (in the league and CL). Might be a different story in the cups... I'm OK with that, as getting another "starter quality" striker/forward would be extremely difficult (and expensive), and could be disruptive to out brilliantly working forward line. If Fekir could still be done I'd go for that, as be can play in a number of positions.

Got to feel for Karius though, he's under the same sort of pressure and ridicule as Trump/May...

We needed another CB at the start of the window and still do now.  I keep reading were in for that mate of Lovren's playing Turkey,  Seems a sensible move to me. Unless Gomez is going to switch to centre Klavan and Matip as back-up won't be enough,

Their one genuinely world class player up top made the difference. We'd none of ours playing. Again, it's a fitness exercise. Glorified training session. Good run out and money in the bank, both in terms of lungs and cash!

Nothing should be read into these performances score wise. Managers who play counterpressing systems even tell their players to intentionally lose the ball in pre-season matches in order to practice pressing.

Just seen that the City match on Thursday is at 01:05am UK time.

Fuck that.

I can't be arsed with pre-season friendlies, regardless of time or opposition.

Football will have to wait another few weeks to devour my life again.

He’s the sole reason why we’re doing so well again.

Totally.

It's hard to believe that some total spunkmongers have wanted rid of Klopp in the past.  At least one of them on here too.  Shallow glory seeking fuckwits who could never grasp just how far we'd slipped behind the pack.

Whatever fuckups FSG are guilty of (plenty), hiring Klopp was one they got absolutely fucking nailed on.
