If he trained at CB for 6 weeks he would be better than either Lovren or Matip - he is a better footballer with a deeper understanding of the game and a far better ability to read it.

Mad how Brazil didn't make the World Cup final when they had Neymar, Alisson, Marcelo, Coutinho, Firmino, Willian, Casemiro, Fabinho, Jesus etc.

Fab has got himself into Garth Crooks team of the week. In defence with Tarkowski and Zouma and no Virg!

Garth says........,

Fabinho: This player has become a far more important addition to the Liverpool set-up than I first realised.

The Brazilian enforcer looks better at centre-back than he does in midfield. At least that's how it appeared against a Brighton side who made life difficult for the league leaders but struggled to really hurt them.

When there was the slightest threat, Fabinho snuffed it out. His positioning throughout the match was quite impressive. Any more displays like that and Dejan Lovren might have to start looking for new employers

I hope his quote on Lovren is true. New employers please.

He ain't going nowhere this season or next probably. Inconsistent as he is what the last month has taught us is that we need cover at CB, especially in domestic cup games. Selling Klavan was daft , selling Lovren would be worse and I don't want Fabhino standing in if possible.

Selling him without cover would indeed be daft but selling him and upgrading would be sensible. Not sure how you upgrade on the worlds greatest defender though!

He’s some footballer - more than decent at centre half last week and he’s already shown his worth in a few midfield positions. We haven’t even tried him at right back where he plays for the national side yet.

The Keita hype meant he came in well under the radar too.

Wasn't great v Palace in my view. But is obvious quality. We missed Gini as he is the glue that has come to hold the midfield together. I think Fab and Henderson work well but they need a player to provide the energy and Wijnaldum does that. I have criticise Wijnaldum in the past but when he's not there it shows.

His little dinked diagonals are very impressive. The mane one against United and the 3rd goal on Saturday were from his balls over the top. A very useful weapon in trying to break down low block defences.

Is it just me, or does he move a bit like gerrard? I’m not saying he’s “the next gerrard” or plays like him (although there are some similarities) but his footballing mannerisms, like the way he turns on his heels when the direction of play changes for one.

So you're saying he's the next Gerrard but without fully committing? If he could score goals from midfield like Gerrard did I'd back that. Maybe that will come later. Great passer and reads the game well.

I really like him. He’s the best tackler we’ve had in midfield since Lucas, but obviously he has more to his game than his fellow Brazilian. He’s a better passer of the ball than I expected him to be, his executes his passes very well. One small observation about his passing is that he seems very (maybe a little too) focused on the part of the pitch he’s facing. He doesn’t seem to pay enough attention to the opposite side, where it could be on.

Haha - no, I’m defo not saying that. There will never be another Stevie, ever, anywhere.

But this lad moves like him, that’s all. I used to think that Joaquin sprinted like him.

Basically, I have an inappropriate love for Gerrard that a man only a few years his junior shouldn’t have, and I see him everywhere.

I'm not sure he reminds me of Gerrard more like Hamann with a sprinkling or Alonso.

In fact it's like someone cloned all of Gerrard's best midfield partners, took samples and put them in a test tube, got Pele to wank into it for good measure, and the scientists at Glaxo or wherever couldn't come up with a code name, and one said this player is gonna be fab, and the rest is history.
