He should be in midfield, no doubt.

But let's not get carried away with last night, we beat Leipzig 2-0 without him in midfield as well and went to shit after it.

Let's see how we do with Kabak/Phillips in defence and Fabinho in midfield for a few games to see if we have any semblance of form back.

Agree to an extent, however the only good thing about Sundays loss was that for the 15 minutes he came on, Fulham were penned in and couldn't get out. We've missed that. If thats 30-40 minutes of being pinned back, teams will crumble.

Nah, he’s a proven world class midfielder. Much stronger defensively than Alonso, much more mobile than Didi, and an all round better footballer than Mascherano.

What we really need is better more like for like depth.

A team should not be pulling midfielders to play at centre half or relying on likes of Rhys Williams and its whole style of play should not fall apart when Fabinho is missing from midfield because our back up options are either crocks or simply can't do job they of player they are covering.

Yes we have had extreme injuries this year, any team would find it hard to cope, but it has shown that we just don't have the right cover/depth.

Not saying we can have an equal of Fabinho on bench, but a similar type with similar attributes who can slot in and do the same job with minimum drop off should be case and should be so across team....

You're perseverating again mate.

None of this has anything to do with Alonso and Mascherano!

He's one of the reasons Philips and Kabak are starting to make a good pairing.  Their lives are so much easier having Fabinho prowling around in front of them, snuffing the majority of danger out.  Their own telescopic legged minder, our midfield is literally a different beast with him in it.  An absolutely outstanding player.

Hopefully we'll get a piledriver of a goal from too before the end of the season, he's due one.

I didn’t agree at the time, but anyone who thought we should have kept him in midfield all season was right. He makes our centre halves much better, whatever the pairing is. Ridiculous footballer.

He wins the ball all over the pitch too, our pressing is so much more effective with him in midfield.
