Spain resorted to tippy tappy without any penetration, and if they were a porn film, all you'd see is arty foreplay. Still, ha ha Ramos, you preening shithouse. Putin's defensive tactics and a huge slice of fortune meant that his troops will soldier on to a quarter final against Croatia.

 

But what of Croatia? In recent tournaments, they've looked like world beaters in the group stage only to struggle badly once the knockouts get underway. They laboured against an industrious but limited Denmark side, for whom Schmeichel was in commanding form. He saved Modric's penalty in extra time, and saved a couple of Croatian efforts in the shootout. Denmark fared even worse from the spot, with some truly shit penalties of their own coupled with some inspired goalkeeping from Subasic for Croatia.

 

Too many players these days wait for the goalkeeper to move before picking their spot. I don't know the stats, but I think players who are successful from the spot in shootouts generally choose where to place the ball before their kick and do not deviate from that thinking despite referees delaying things needlessly as well as gamesmanship from opposition goalkeepers.

Well I guess with the groups decided the cagey games have started now the stakes are higher. If you have not got a creative midfield and a goalscorer in your side your going to struggle to get through these games. The only danger sides I have seen so far are Brasil France and maybe Uruguay but they are in the other side of the draw. The Ruskies have the following wind of the home team. Belgium could be a good dark horse although that will be down to the players seeing as Bobby Brown Shoes is the manager. If England get past Columbia they might sneek to the semi. Just cannot see them getting to the final because well England are England and always mess up.
