I think you're spectacularly missing the point here, rangers77.

Because he's a Liverpool supporter he would want to show respect for both a previous Liverpool player and a previous Liverpool manager, not show a preference of allegiance to either team.

There's no better way of doing this than having a half and half scarf of the two Glasgow teams.

Knowing the tolerant and friendly nature of the Scotch, I am sure he would be welcomed by supporters on both sides of the "divide".

[emoji23] I did get the point however I was been deadly serious having said that I know in Scotland there are Liverpool fans from both sides and Gerrard is well respected

Can people stop using the term 'Scotch' in the wrong context please.

Scottish people - correct

Scottish Football - correct

Scotch Whisky - correct

To call Scottish people 'Scotch' is considered an insult, it's generally used to describe an inanimate object. Probably ok for Alan Brazil.

Can I add a clarification to that mate. Hope you don't mind as a scouser who has lived in Scotland a wee while (see that).

Never order a scotch. Fuck off. Its a Whisky. If you get a whiskey send it back. That's a Bourbon or an Irish Whiskey which is lovely and probably my favorite but it is not a whisky.

Note the 'E'

In-fact I see no justification ever for the term Scotch. It is like someone cant be arsed to say, or are too stupid,

Like going into a cafe in Bootle as a Yank, sorry American, and asking for a Brit.

Obviously I used "Scotch" as a clue that my post was ironic.

As was putting "divide" in inverted commas.

I have Scotch friends, so as a sassanach, use the term liberally to wind them up.

Obviously.
