Grand National 2018/Aintree meeting

Recommended Posts

We're less than 24 hours from the opening day of the festival.

And just under 48 hours away from the Daily Mail publishing pervy, voyeuristic "upskirt" photos.

Anyway, the gee-gees...

Tips. Fancies. Go....

National wise, I've got a shortlist (liable to change) of:

Tiger Roll

Seeyouatmidnight

Ucello Conti - previous decent National form, unlucky in running last year

Saint Are - seems to improve for running at Aintree

Total Recall

Vicente - stays well

Yeah. Never change your mind!

Bollocks!

I'm adding another to the list.

Maggio - 100/1.

The owners have been trying to get this in to the National for a few years now. It's missed out and been an unused reserve a couple of times.

The National is a handicap. In the years when it's missed out, the owners have ran it in hurdles races to keep it fit but get it's jumps handicap mark down with a view to getting it in the National with a decent weight. They've finally succeeded this year.

It's got round the National fences before in the Topham, which was too short/fast for it. It's also won at Aintree over the standard fences in 2016 on soft ground. It did so impressively. Stayed out the back of the field for most of the race then produced a late surge to win by 12 lengths. That was over 3 miles. It's got an extra mile and a half to run tomorrow, but it could easily adopt similar tactics, hanging back, then kicking on in the final stages.

I'm going in on the 7 places market on Bet365. Price drops down to 66/1 though.

Shite advice this.

A certain Egyptian has just doubled my Anibale Fly place winnings.

Anybody heard more about the injured horses? No fatalities, apparently. Great news.

Saint Are back in the stables getting checked by the vets.

37 horses all sound bar the one of who needed a medical check.

Positive considering the amount of falls. They need to really review Brooks corner though - it's fucking awful watching them fall.

Sorry, Skaro, mate. Did have a look in the end and put three up for the National I liked.

Cheers, mate.

I got very good entertainment value at the Sydney Cup meeting at Randwick today.

I put a nice wedge - the place - on an 81/1 shot that Damien Oliver was on.

3rd.  Paid 15s.

So I got my "Tiger Roll" anyway.
