One of the best things about this win for me is that it confirms we now appear to have discovered how to win against teams we are expected to beat.  The Hammers hardly parked the bus, and in fact gave us a few frights during the game, but we overcame them in emphatic fashion.

The other main source of pleasure was the confirmation of the importance of having someone with a winning mentality in that midfield.  Milner is the real deal, and is massively under appreciated on here, and I've never quite understood why - especially considering the snowflakes who are often selected in his place.

He has, but if there is any midfielder I would trust to pull us out of the mire, or to stop us being overrun,he's the one.  Being a winner makes a massive difference.  As does not being a shithouse.

I think as ever with these things, it depends on who you're playing with.

Cant disagee with that. I just want a midfield that's class consistently. Who you know are the dogs bollocks and no cunt doubts it. Put a class midfield behind our attack is mouthwatering.

I completely agree.  A class midfield means the attack with become even more deadly as they know making runs will not be in vain.  And the defence looks miles better, because the midfield does not allow the opposition to run at them unencumbered.

I was underwhelmed by Milner's signing and thought he was on the way to being past it even when he got here.

I was quite wrong.

Milner is doing a very good job but its obvious to see that his legs are going a bit and he's occasionally shown up for a lack of pace against better opponents. The problem is that if he and Can both play we are a bit pedestrian at times. I would rather have Milner than Can if I had to choose though.

Shame Miller we couldn't have got Milner when he was younger.
