Summer 2018 Transfer Thread

Got a feeling it will be Shaqiri, Fabinho and Keita in and that's it. With maybe Wijnaldum following Can out the door. If that's all we get, it's an improvement, but it's not the massive improvement we were all hoping for.

Wilson signing another new contract is good news though, I think he'll kick on loads if he gets a decent chance. Shaqiri and Wilson as backup for Salah and Mane is a lot better than what we had last season after Coutinho left.

I can't see Origi staying longer than the transfer window, he only has one year left on his contract so someone's gonna take a punt on him for like £10m or something. Such a frustrating player. Tall, strong, quick, fairly intelligent in his movement off the ball, just a total fucking coward. Sturridge likewise has one year left but I doubt anyone is going to pay money for him, he'll end up going on a free next summer. With Ings leaving it looks like Solanke is getting another shot as backup to Bobby. Not hugely encouraged by his performances thus far, but Klopp seems to love him and he doesn't look as mentally weak as Origi at least.

But obviously the clearest upgrade we could make at this point would be between the goalposts. Absolutely maddening that we didn't get something sorted straight away. I know we all love the idea of Oblak but no-one's paying ~£80m for a goalie, not yet anyway. The thing is, even if we don't get him, there's a tonne of goalies who we could get who would be LOADS better than Karius and Mignolet. I mean Fabianski is one example, he's gone to West Ham. He wouldn't be the most exciting signing ever but he's fucking loads better than Karius, mainly because he isn't completely mentally destroyed after chucking two goals in his own net in the biggest game in world football. But he's just one example, there has to be loads of options out there better than what we currently have.

I think peoples expectations were unmanaged if they thought there would be a massive improvement in players in this window. I do not think that was ever going to happen. Do not think it is needed either. Clearly the Karius situation has developed into something more pressing after the CL and the pre season nonesense stuff.
