Might have paid most of it as I’d imagine that PSG were happy to give them the full Neymar fee up front, but there’s at least £35m in variables on top of rhe basic £105m or whatever it was for Phil.

There won't be a bidding war because there's not really anyone who would bid. That's Barcelona's problem.

 

They need to raise some money for Griezmann because they've been giving higher and higher wages to their squad and buying older players instead of players with potential to grow. Fixing that was the thought behind Dembele and Coutinho but with Dembele he didn't provide instant results so they're back to the old strategy of "buy players at their peaks or past them to give us results right now."

 

Bayern have never bought a player over £40m, they're not likely to double that overnight. Madrid is out for obvious reasons. Juventus can't afford anywhere near £90m, they're out. PSG have FFP problems and also already own Neymar and Mbappe. That leaves just the Premier League.

 

Arsenal? Ha, he's not going to tie himself to a sinking ship. Spurs? Possibly, but again, unless they sold someone big they can't afford Dembele. Chelsea are trying to shed money and they're not going to bid anywhere near what he'd cost. City are another possibility but they already have a bunch of young attacking talent they're struggling to get onto the pitch as it is, and he doesn't seem to really suit Pep's style. That leaves United, and I honestly think that Dembele would choose us over them 10 times out of 10 after seeing Mourinho destroy Martial's career (as well as countless other top young attackers).

 

So you have a player who is unquestionably one of the best 5 U21 players in the world for sale, in a summer we actually might have the money to buy him. And through some miracle, Liverpool might actually be the best option for him in Europe. If Barca are really looking to sell (which is the most dubious part of this whole equation, but there's certainly some smoke there) then we might just have a future Balon D'Or candidate drop into our laps at age 21.

Dembele's a phenom and already craps on everybody. Barca aren't dumb enough to fully get rid of him, but if there's even a slight possibility of him leaving we have to be on him like white on rice.
