The ‘Buy Nabil Fekir’ Campaign

Recommended Posts

Liverpool have resumed talks with Lyon over a deal for Nabil Fekir.

A £53million move for the playmaker fell apart at the start of June when Liverpool became concerned over issues in his medical.

But in the last few days negotiations have resumed with a belief that a compromise can be hammered out with Fekir finally becoming a Liverpool player once he has returned from Russia.

Kop boss Jurgen Klopp was left frustrated when advanced talks between the two clubs collapsed at the 11th hour with the Anfield medical team unhappy about the condition of a knee in the aftermath of an operation in 2015.

It can be revealed that the 24-year-old attacking midfielder had almost put pen to paper and had undertaken an unveiling interview with the club’s in house television station

With concerns over his medical condition Liverpool officials attempted to re-negotiate the transfer inserting a number of clauses which would reduce their outlay for the Lyon captain if there were any injury problems concerning the knee.

Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas retaliated by insisting the deal was off unless Liverpool paid the asking price in full and warned that with Fekir’s involvement in the World Cup with France the transfer fee could go up.

He also insisted that Manchester United were in the running to sign the player.

Klopp believes Fekir is the final piece in his new look midfield, one that also contains summer signings Naby Keita and Fabinho.

That Mirror article comes a day after they wrote this little Manc-pleasing piece...

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/truth-manchester-uniteds-transfer-offer-12823886.amp

The truth about Manchester United's 'transfer offer' for Liverpool target Nabil Fekir

....Clubs have previously fabricated United’s interest in a player to smoke out a bidder and the biggest sucker for the ruse tends to be Liverpool.

The tactic was used by Hoffenheim with Roberto Firmino in 2015 before he moved to Liverpool and, in the same summer, an Aston Villa official alleged to a newspaper reporter that United would sign Christian Benteke, despite United having no intention of doing so. Within 24 hours, Liverpool had triggered the Belgian’s £32.5million release clause.

This summer, Fabinho moved to Liverpool after being linked with United for years and some actually reported he rejected United. He didn’t. United rejected him.
