Firmino Racism Allegations

This is the original wording of the statement that Bascombe has reported, with the line in bold removed from the one on the website.

“Firmino was formally interviewed by The FA and provided an alternative account to the words alleged by Holgate. Firmino stated that he had insulted Holgate in Portuguese, but denied categorically using any discriminatory language towards him.

“As part of the investigation, The FA sought the assistance of a Brazilian/Portuguese linguistic specialist on the words alleged. In addition to this, we also obtained multiple angles of video footage, including broadcast and unseen footage showing the incident, which was assessed by two independent Portuguese speaking lip reading experts. The evidence obtained from the experts did not support the allegation.

“We appreciate that this has been a difficult process for both parties, and would like to express our thanks to Mason Holgate and Roberto Firmino as well as both clubs for their assistance, professionalism and full cooperation during this investigation.”

The question is, why have the FA removed that from the release on the website?

No he isn't.

The only way they could find him innocent (or guilty for that matter) is if they first charged him and then conducted a 'trial' so to speak

They didn't charge him because there was not enough evidence to do so...therefore it isn't a case of innocent or guilty.

If the bizzies arrest you and question you they have to then decide whether to charge you, after that then and only then is innocence or guilt decided on.

It staggers me people seem to be struggling to understand this.

This. Kind of.

But, a trial/hearing would return verdicts of guilty or not guilty.

And, as innocent until proven guilty is an established principle in all manner of legal proceedings, Firmino has been declared innocent. No matter how much the bitter blues try to twist the terminology used.

Screw the FA and their "ref saw it" bullshit. Can it be reported to the police as assault?

I would have thought anyone in the crowd with a good view would be entitled to report it. Clearly off the field of play so as much an assault as anything comparable you might witness in the street.

We know how this is going to go - 5 minutes into the Goodison Derby the ball goes to Firmino and the whole crowd boo him - and then they start singing 'ladyboy'- to highlight their anti-bigotry stance.

Cos that is what they do. If anyone thinks a total and absolute acknowledgement of no evidence would shut those pricks up, you are nuts! In their minds he was guilty, they don't need facts and evidence to confirm anything.

Definitely a separate act to challenging for the ball originally...he stopped and then off the pitch in a totally separate act shoved Firmino over.

It could easily be seen as an assault and of course anyone who witnessed it would be entitled to report it - i may be wrong but would the bizzies then ask Firmino if he wanted to press ahead though should they decide they could bring charges.

Wasn't a false accusation. The FA had no jurisdiction over the matter.

Apparently it was Mike Phelan who made the false accusations of racism, not Evra (who was suspended for generally being a cunt).

Meanwhile, over on the equivalent thread on the MF, Hades has just reached peak Hades.

It was instructive how inarticulate his response to Dave's question was compared with the usual mensa-like posts he makes about the psychoanalytics of oppression etc.  He's clearly a cutter-and-paster most of the time... and then of course - like a couple of our other friends on here - is not above approving of and resorting to infantile, argumentum ad hominem, Tourettes-style abuse when re-butted or challenged.

Evertonian - A mental illness categorised by intense delusion with extreme paranoia, centred around an inability to think rationally on matters concerning Liverpool Football Club. Sufferers will exhibit signs of becoming increasingly out of touch with reality. Any help to bring them back to reality using clear and irrefutable evidence will be ignored and cause them to sink deeper into a dream world of their own making

As the disease progresses sufferers will let out audible boos and become more and more physically and verbally aggressive. They tend to be especially dangerous whilst holding small children. In its terminal stage, only the word 'kopite' becomes distinguishable and the aggression makes way for a more cerebral obsession, a desire to statistically prove that Mo Salah didn't deserve any of his goals.

I'm happy to not be around these in everyday situations. I'd be pulling my hair out listening to the crap they come up with.

On the other hand it must provide alot of laughs poking them into explosive rage. Little brother syndrome at it's absolute best.

Andy Dunn of the Daily Mirror has it spot on.

The FA statement announcing the findings of the RF/ MH incident probably had to be delicate.

' Having considered all of the available evidence we consider it not to raise a charge '

What about simply saying Firmino is innocent , which the inquiry has found him to be .
