New thread for the new year, 2017 was a boss year for boxing.

My 2017 picks are:

Favourite moment - Josh Taylor making Ohara Davies quit

Fight of the year - Joshua / Klitschko, best heavyweight fight in years and the event was massive

KO of the year - Groves body shot on Cox or Tete on Gonya

Performance of the year - Billy Joe Saunders

Upset of the year - Caleb Truax UD James Degale

Fighter of the year - Josh Taylor

Top 3 wish list for 2018

Joshua Vs Wilder

Mikey Garcia Vs Lomachenko

Spence Vs Thurman

The guy who does The History on Fire podcast has done a 3 part series on Jack Johnson and it is excellent.

He has to do a bit of plugging in the first 4 minutes, then he begins to roll. The other episodes on the site are not boxing related, but are worth checking out. They are brilliant, in my view.

Holyfield's recovery skills were superhuman.

Ace round that, thanks. Cooper's predatory instincts are bang on as well, crisp hard shots and somehow Holyfield just shrugs them off and unleashes some fantastic shots in return. Another example of the mockery of the scoring systems as it would go down as 10-8 to Cooper when it was possibly an even round.

He had some chin on him Holyfield. Took massive licks from the best and amazing considering he was a relatively small heavyweight. Where the fuck he fits on the heavyweight greatest ever lists is so subjective - how would a prime Holyfield done in the past 10 years? What about the late 70s?
